Springs cross side to side. When the gear comes up (doors closed) the control horn on the door almost lines up with the spring, giving it the least torque possible for trying to open the doors even though the spring is stretched more than with the door open (and the horn at appx 90 deg to the spring)

I can get them to close and stay shut i need a way of making them stay open and stiff when i put the landing gear down for landing.

the above will do it... read it again. Max effect is when the spring is holding the doors open.

Spring loaded hinges. They are designed to spring open not closed.
