Gear door spring open

I am a making tricycle nose gear door that opens and closes i have it working to where when the retracts are up the doors close but i am trying to figure out how to keep the doors open and not flutter around when they are open. I have read a couple of posts about "spring loaded" to keep them open but i am not picturing it right in my head i would think the spring would shut them.

Springs cross side to side. When the gear comes up (doors closed) the control horn on the door almost lines up with the spring, giving it the least torque possible for trying to open the doors even though the spring is stretched more than with the door open (and the horn at appx 90 deg to the spring)

I can get them to close and stay shut i need a way of making them stay open and stiff when i put the landing gear down for landing.

the above will do it... read it again. Max effect is when the spring is holding the doors open.

Spring loaded hinges. They are designed to spring open not closed.

And even nicer design is the ones from SonicTronics. Allows the door(s) to drop down slightly then swing open to prevent binding. I've used em on a couple of my P-38's.
