Default Unboxing, Review, and Maiden of the Parkzone Ultra Micro P51 Mustang BNF with AS3X

Hi guys!

I recently bought my favorite warbird in the form of the new Ultra Micro P-51D from Parkzone. The unboxing/review/maiden flight video is now complete and ready for you all to view. This video includes two flights in addition to the unboxing/review.

I hope you all enjoy!

PS: If you just want to skip to just the flights, they begin at 2:46

Thanks again! One of those isn't for this version of that plane, however.

We had an older pilot fly one of these last weekend. It flew great compared to my AS3X Spitfire. I was jealous. BTW - He's 83!!

It really is a great plane! I am so thankful I waited to get this one.

Here is another video showing it flying "scale". I am impressed with how realistically it flies and holds its ground in the wind.

Nice review. I dont think I will be picking this one up because I am just not a big fan of the minis, however I think the AS3X tech is amazing and I think it a real help. I am considering the purchase of the receiver portion to put into some of my planes that dont care for the wind so much here in Wyoming

Happy flying may your crashes be limited and if they are not limited let them be cool.

"I am impressed with how realistically it flies and holds its ground in the wind."

Hmmmmm........Realistically, as in true scale or RC model....please expand on your knowledge of the P-51 flight characteristics......."holds it ground" sounds like a rolling terrain vehicle......lol

I do have to say, that my UM Spitfire AS3X is NOT my favorite plane. It feels like the AS3X wants to fight me everytime I put her up. It has reallys soured me on UM planes.

I understand that completely. It isn't for everyone, that is for sure. Putting it in a larger plane could be a great thing, too.

Get your eyes checked. There is an S there that you clearly didn't see. And I put "scale" in quotes to refer to it loosely. Seriously go to the gym or do something productive with your time instead of being an online bully.

I can understand how you could be discouraged by the performance of your Spit.

That is because you didn't wait for the best designed UM with AS3X The reviews and videos that came out for the other planes left me not wanting to purchase any with it before this one came out.

In short, I am glad I waited.

The UmP40, although very fun to fly, does not do so well in the wind. In a slight breeze it is okay. The AS3X is sometimes slow to react. It is also VERY hard to get the P40 to loop. But it does roll good.

Wonder what they improved on for the P51

It is acutally a success, at least from what I can tell on mine, but the other two certainly are from what I have heard. I wanted the P-40, but heard too many bad things about them.

It is lighter and has more wing surface area.

Ironic because the real P51 had high wing loading, thus its comparably poor performance at middle and low altitude.

i dont regret the p40 at all. It flies great and smooth with no wind. just not very agile. And she looks great on the shelf and in the air.
But i am biased because the p40 and p38 are the only Anerican birds i really like.

That is what I read in another forum that compared the two, so who knows lol

I just know if flies really well

I took this video last night and it turned out better than I had hoped. It makes me laugh and enjoy this lovely plane all at the same time. Best of all I got to spend it with my great girlfriend!

I am very happy with my purchase.

This new video does a pretty good job of showing off the "personality" of this little plane IMO. The winds were somewhat gusty and kept changing direction, so the flying conditions put the AS3X to the test for sure.

Enjoy!

Here is a video that shows how easy it is to fly inverted with this plane:

You are going on quite the plane buying spree aren't you?

I flew it with 70% DR and +30 Expo on the maiden. I made a few minor tweaks each direction for the different control surfaces here and there, but those should work out for you just fine.

A note: Mine pulls pretty hard to the left on take-off, so be in a wide open place for the maiden as yours might pull the other direction. These little planes are still a work in progress.
