Default The Parkzone F4F Wildcat Appreciation Thread

I absolutely love mine!

Let's all post video and pictures of our Wildcats. I feel like not enough people are aware of how great this plane truly is, so let's show em!

Hi Bill!

Great choice on your plane. Here is my advice:

- Look over the wings for warping before you put it together. My first kit had pretty warped wings so I got a new one mailed to me. Some of the kits are like that to a degree and still fly fine unless it is bad like mine was (reportedly)
- If you plane to hand launch, bump the throttle up to a out 70-80% and give it a gentle but firm toss. It should be smooth like silk.
- Trim as needed at a high altitude. Mine liked to turn very hard right initially and caused me to land on its canopy on its maiden (I also wasn't used to its speed, so pilot error is very likely the issue in my case).

Another thing to keep in mind are that the CG should be perfect with the stock battery or something with comparable weight and size.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Hopefully one of us will have the answer or be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you sir!

Regarding the space question, give yourself as much room as possible until you get used to it. Then you can fly in a fairly small area for a plane this size.

Bill, this video should give you a better idea as to what kind of space this plane can eat up and how quickly it can do so. I also should mention that I don't believe I went over 90% throttle at any point during this video:

GB, that is one fine flyin airplane! I suppose the pilot has a little something to do with that as well! Great video! It appears that the plane goes pretty much where you point it.....im sure this is hard to answer, but how well does handle at slow speed? Im pretty sure my skills dont even come close to yours!!

You are too kind Bill. If I am being honest, the plane flies itself and goes where you point it. The camerawoman is also very good with the camera we are using. It flies well with slow speed, BUT like any warbird and any plane for that matter airspeed is life. I broke the cowl on this thing going too slow and giving up elevator causing a nasty stall on a cold day. The lesson learned was keep it level and the airspeed up.

I hope that helps!
