Default Spektrum dx7 installation

In the manual for the Spektrum DX7 it showes the 2 RX mounted with the antennas in line with each other ( the same plane). My understanding is that the satellite RX MUST be placed so that it's antennas are 90 degrees to the main RX. Can anybody clear this up for me please.
Thanks

I place them where the antennas are as far apart as possible. Really I don't do anything special, never had a problem and never have done the 90 degree thing.

Orientation is not really critical....

Paranoid setup is with the satellite as far from the main RX as possible and the antennae at 90 deg to each other. the 90 deg to each other is slightly more important than the separation.

The idea is to prevent all antennae from being pointed at the TX at the same time. Pointed at the TX will give weakest reception. Also to prevent shadowing all antennae at once by any large metal mass or carbon-fiber plate/shell in the model.

Just randomly putting the RX and satellite in wherever you feel like it is usually fine.

Ideally they should be at least 3 inches apart and have the antennas at right angles to each other.

You can also use Flightlog data from LowPower/Range testing to confirm the best location/orientation.
