Default Fastest ... smallest ... plan EDF model ?

I'm looking for a scratchbuild EDF suitable model that looks like something .. can take a standard unit say 64mm or 70mm ...

But simple .. but capability to really push the envelope on speed ... especially if 70mm - cause so far 70mm stuff I've looked at, and have is SLOWWWWW !

So plans please ... (if you give link to a site - please make it the plan actual link - not a site that takes all day to search through to find the model !! )

Cheers
Nigel

Nigel,
The first ones to come to mind were the Me-163 and the BD5. Both made retarded fast, but both using a standard prop. Then I thought of one of my favorites. The A-4 Skyhawk. There is a set of plans on Hippocket aeronautics. You have to join to download but it is free.

Cheers,
Chris

I'm either going to get good at flying em, or get good at fixin em!

Already registered with Hippocket ... and many plans downloaded ... particularly Pilot Kits ....

The A4 didn't spring to mind as ones I've seen are a bit draggy ... but worth a shot...

I remember the Blue Angels 049 powered job in the 80's ...

The A4 draggy? Hmmm...... I havn't built one because I'm afraid it will be too fast.
You want something that looks like an actual plane but simple, clean, and fast.
You may have to go the F86/ Mig15 route. There is a guy on the Hippocket site who enlarged guillows Mig-15 plans to take a 35mm EDF.
Also the FanTrainer comes to mind. That would be crazy fast with a 70MM.

I'm either going to get good at flying em, or get good at fixin em!

I've looked at FlyCat .. cheap foamie with a 56mm ... to modify up to 70mm but not too happy about reported lack of elevator authority on it.

So the quest is on for a scratchbuild that I can push to limits.

I also looked at carving up my older Parkjet ... build an EDF tube fuselage between the wings ... it has proper aerofoil wing that is fast, sweep back, elevons already modified for over 200kph etc.

The 2 models I have with 70mm are disappointing to tell the truth. Even with careful cleaning up of ducts etc. - the test thrust of 1.2kg drops of dramatically when installed to barely over 900gr. I have managed to squeeze near 1kg ... but it's poor considering my 50mm pushes out over 750gr installed !
This is why I want to keep small so I can possibly gain speed with my existing 70mm's.

If you don't mind to use 50 mm fan, the Jpower 50 mm series are really fast and small. I personally like the F-18 and F-22.

I have the T-45 Red Arrows, F-16 and Katana. The Katana has now been converted to a pusher and is now much faster in her new configuration. The F-16, is probably the fastest Skyangel but kind of a PITA. The T-45 is probably the best entry level edf.

I might pop for the F-18 at some point. Gotta support Naval Aviation Superiority !

Nigel is in fact a mentor on the JPower Skyangel series. He's the guy that got me interested in this series and later, the related mods.

Have a good one !

Hawk !

If you follow the 50mm threads here and RCGROUPS.... you will see I am one of the fastest with my hot T45.
