I'm curious how many out there have a Travel Air Mystery Ship. I bought one made by EcomRC from Troybuilt Models recently and ont he find it a thrill just looking at it. I consider it a study in classic Art Deco grace and sheer beauty.
It flys every bit as well as it looks too. I maidened a couple weeks ago and never had to touch a trim button for the first time since I started flying RC five years ago and building and assembling several planes and ARF's.
There were some odd issues as usually found with most ARF's and builds but nothing serious. On the other hand it was the first time the CG was dead on perfect without any adjustments whatsover.
If anyone else has this plane I'd appreciate their impressions as comparison. I look forward to any comments or questions too. Specs:

The rudder pushrod guide tube was installed incorrectly but I was able to remove it and reinstall it. Since that was successful I removed the elevator tube also and reinstalled it directly down center to allow for an internal elevator horn which worked out just perfectly. If I was to do another one I'd like to add a pull-pull cable for the the rudder too.
Very long, 50mm bolts intended to secure the TE of the wing.....way too long with nothing in between the wing and where the blind nuts were orig installed. I epoxied a couple tall block reinforced "pillers" to give more support. Ideally I could have added a horiz plate even with the saddle with blind nuts to hold the wing down but didn't think of it untill after the fact.
Hi tarheal, Thanks for the photo.....it's such a magnificent airplane. Do know any details about that particular build? I assume it must be a reprodution because I think the orig is in Chicago.
