Default WiFiFPV APP Google Play

Hi,

I am looking for a small cheap cell phone around 100usd for one and only purpose, running the WiFiFPV app

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....wififpv&hl=en

Yes i know that WiFi will have limited range, that me video will be choppy, and with a low framerate and will not be 100% realtime but i think its a cheap way to try out fpv

The App needs an Android phone with WiFi, GPS, Magnetic Compass, Accelerometer and of cource camera.

What i would like to do is if to just take my laptop with my Alfa awus036h 1watt acting as access point and have the phone stream down video to the laptop.

I would really appreciate it if you could try the app on your android phone so we can find compatible devices.

The developer of the program that i contacted told my that he build the program around the Samsung Galaxy S2(ι9100) and that anything with similar hardware should work

For those who might be lost and don't understand the purpose of this post is to test all the android phones we can lay out hands on and post back the results so we can make a compatibility list. The app is picky and doesnt work on all phones in some it doesn't start in other it doesn't detect the camera so testing is necessary be we actually buy anything

Thanks

Thats not what it looks like to me.

Why dont you use the supplied link and 'email the developer' That person could probably help.

I have already contacted the developer and he told me he doesn't know of any compatible phones. All he said was that he developed the app on the Samsung Galaxy S2 and any similar phone should work.

I have already mentioned it on my post, the developer said he doesn't know i cant understand how he cannot know since its his app his brainchild but that were his words.

So our only option now i guess is testing.

Looks pretty simple to me...

Get the Galaxy S2 and quit 'testing'.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Penny wise and pound foolish" ?

If you really want to do FPV, just plunk the coin down for a Boscam or a Fat Shark set and be done with it.

My mate Vilnis ... goes out over 9km .... on FPV ...

I don't think he's looking to play with cheap Mobile Phones on this ...

And he doesn't use Orange gear as well !

To me FPV is serious kit and not a budget exercise. Doesn't matter whether you fly close or far ... and if as OP is talking GPS - then must be considering some distance out ...

I was amazed when Vilnis machine brought itself home ... to origin ... course I'd read, heard and seen it before - but something about his when it did it ... just blew me away !

No way in the world I will put my Samsung S2 up in the air. What are you thinking. As you say, buy your own and you do it. The cost of FPV gear has plummeted and can be had for much less than a Samsung S2, by a long shot. You can get transmitters for a bit over $20 now and probably pick up a full set of second hand stuff of real FPV gear for much less than $100. Why waste your time with a mufti setup like a phone?

@ Nitro Blast thanks the link with the camera looks good

@ Panther: Yes you can get "REAL" FPV for around 100$ but it won't have a HUD with Artificial horizon, Compass, Accelerometer, GPS, dedicated battery and recording capabilities as a phone would have.

Plus a phone is compact needs no connections, wiring etc its ready to go, you can move it around easily and use it with lots of models. If you put a sim in your phone you can call it to locate your phone when its lost up a tree.

Many people have old smartphones that they don't use any more so you may already have an FPV system and you haven't realized it.

Also if you have a good WiFi card on your laptop as the Alfa awus036h which is 1 watt you can get decent range.

Its just another way of doing things

Actually the Skylark Tiny OSD has all that for $105 and there is another real cheap one with a GPS for around $24. https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...PS_Module.html

The TXs and RXs are quite cheap now and as I said a second hand one would be well within the price range.
