Default Brand new Mulit-Rotor Helicopter Forum

Our fearless Administrator has set up a new forum, celebrating Mulit-Rotor Helicopters. Now I don't know much about them, other than they usually have four motors and four propellers and look really cool. I have watched videos of them and wished I had one, but I never took the leap.

Now that we have this forum devoted to them, perhaps we all can be enlightened by the knowledge you quad guys have.

So fire up those quad rotor craft and lets see em fly.

I just know there are those folks out there who are just wanting to tell what they know about quads. Don't be afraid to start a thread, because you probably know more than most if you have a quad.

Thanks Skyhawk for getting the Quad form rolling.

Was that a really big sigh after you got it back on the ground in one piece?

I have seen video of quads going under small bridges, under guard rails on those bridges, under tree limbs and around all sorts of stuff. They look really fun after you get the flying part down.

I have an mQX that is driving me crazy...it worked perfectly and then started flipping from the right to left when trying to take off. I don't get it.

They are cheaper than I thought. There is far less damage in a spectacular crash than any model plane. I mean, I have had several bad upside down crashes and only broken a prop each time.

You learn real fast

They are (in my opinion) much easier and cheaper to fly than helicopters. (Yes I have been there)

There are several types of flight controllers, eg Arduino
I use a simpler one. The KK2.1

There are Flight Control boards that have Altitude hold and return to home and are expensive. (GPS Baro etc)
Or you can have a cheaper fun fly board like my KK2.1 with self levelling.
I am enjoying a break from planes and gliders and learning something new.
