Default Speed motor for a Northstar? Any ideas?

I have a northstar that I want to convert to electric. I removed my Jett 50 and am looking for an Electric motor on 6-8s that will provide me with similar performance. I have been running a APC 9x9 on the Jett 50. Could go a little larger or increase pitch.

Thanks
Mike

I'm looking to electrify my not-yet-built Northstar since I just sold off my .55ax on MCP. I've seen vid of a Northstar running a 4025 1100kV motor on 6S/5000 with a 100A Castle ESC. No mention of prop, however. Hard to tell from the video, but it looks to be doing 70-80mph easily... might well be a bit over 100.

I'd sure be interested if anyone has a particular 4025 1100kV motor to recommend, as I've already got just a few CC 100A ESCs and 6S/5000 packs lying around waiting for the 50cc profile to be completed...

Unless you modded the vertical and nacelle, I don't know about anything bigger than a 9" or 10" prop... 9square seems like a good place to start at the least... see "Watts Up" and adjust from there. I'd rather adjust and experiment with props than with motors!

The speed the electric motor spins is set by cell count and kv rating. Without knowing these two things, you are just shooting in the dark.

Hello, an old thread I know but I am looking to build an EP Northstar. I have the kit.

Did anyone get answers of a good setup? I too would like to run 6-8cells. Thinking of 400kv. 10" clearance but happy to use 3 or 4 blades if necessary.....

Thanks

Scorpion 4020 seriesII 550kv with a 9 x9 prop should give you 120 mph. \on 6S/4000-5000/ 40c Check out the Scorpion Calc (free download) it will tell you everything you need to know. flying-barely

Default Ep northstar

Thanks Barley flying. Used ecalc with scorpion 2 4020. 540kv. Came out at 100mph max power 1000w. Flight time of 20mins with a 6cell 4000mah so something not right! I'm on iPhone so will investigate further on computer.

One thought was that motor is good for 3000w! With a 9x9 I doubt anywhere near that power will be used so a lot of spare motor is being lugged about?

Thanks for the input
