Howdy all, I just need a little info. I have a large front yard. 250' X 500'. What would be a good foamy for my sons & I fly there. I'm not the best pilot, so 3D planes are out of the question. We just wan't to fly and have fun, without a bunch of expense. I'm an excellent builder of balsa planes, but foam is new to me. My boys have never flown before, so I need something that is tough & easy to fly. I have thought of building some out of blue fan fold, I have a bunch of it. I don't know what size carbon fiber I need for reinforcement. I have some 370 size motors. I also want my boy's to help build them, so they can't be to complicated. Thanks, Johnny
West Michigan Park Flyers makes a couple of planes out of EPP that are pretty nice. I have the Tuff Cub. It has KFm2 wing and all up weight is under 7 ounces. With the recommended motor, it has more power than a Slow Stick and can handle wind better. I am told that one can upgrade to ailerons later if so desired.
3D planes are not out of the question just because 3D flying is "way out" of your skill level.
Just mechanically reduce throw on elevator and ailerons to about 1/3 (You might need the full rudder for non-3D flying) of recommended at high rate. You now have a sport-aerobatic model.
