I was walking past Gatwick "Beehive" Helicopter base one day when a Russian Heavy-Lifter was demonstrating lifting Buses and trucks ... that was in about 1971 ...
There was nothing advertised about this ... it was pure luck I was walking past going home ...
The "Beehive" was a base for Bristows and other Heli Co's of UK ... and named after the circular "beehive" control room on site. The fence was open link and all was clear to see.

So are they still considered unmanned aerial vehicles? Excuse me unpeopled aerial vehicles..?

Wow, 2 helis with 4 to 5 ft rotors lifting a human using battery packs and electric motors.

Anyone else seeing a possible evolutionary step in the personal "Jet pack"?

Wouldn't take much to get all that equipment into a back pack sized package.

With battery and motor technology increasing the way it is......

I'm either going to get good at flying em, or get good at fixin em!

Yeah, it very cools and really shows the power of modern electric systems. But I'd not get too excited about the possibility of commuting to work suspended under your RC helicopter just yet, the flight duration is less than a minute.
