Yes, 5 stars! My recent order was stuff I needed and stuff I figured would be nice to have, and when I unpacked it a small item I needed was missing. Buggers. This AM I call Tower expecting the usual robotic voice number menu and crappy hold music . . . but much to surprise one ring and I'm talking to a human! I kid thee not. Maybe a minute and problem solved, Tower will pop my stuff in the mail. I was impressed.
I made my first purchase from tower this week.
Had to call them back to confirm some stuff. I also expected an automated answering system. What a surprise when a human answered right away. Very refreshing these days.
This is a fact, you have never been in an empty room.
I've been buying from Tower since the very early 80's. Spent a ton of money with them because in the early days they were simply the best online hobby store. Virtually all of my radios, kits and engines came from them. Can't remember a single order with a problem so I never had to contact customer service. They always got it right from the start. I used to LOVE those $20.00 off $50.00 order coupons they sent out in the small catalogs. I put those puppies to good use! The $1.99 parts saver shipping is an awesome deal too!
Yep, I have two radios from Tower, a Futaba 4YF - my getting back into the hobby radio, and the WF crew convinced me I needed one of them newfangled computer radios so I got a Tactic 6 channel rig. I think sometime next year I will be able to announce the crossover where my Tactic flight time exceeds the bench top programming time :-)
Tower does good. Now I'm waiting on my missing piece and a Sig shipment which been stuck in Greensboro, NC for a few days - snow ya know, a dusting by Yankee standards, crippiling in NC . . .
For those who didn't know, I ordered a Multiplex TwinStar II from Tower.
What showed up (inside a pristine shipping box) was a crushed, torn, cut out, taped together box. The plane inside didn't fair much better, along with missing parts.
Contacted Tower, and they sent me a partial refund of the purchase price.
I kept the bird, repaired what was needed and replaced the missing parts.
When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather did, in his sleep...... Not screaming like the passengers in his plane.
I haven't gone looking for your other thread again but what was the decision on who did the damage? Was it Tower or the shipper? It appears Tower stepped up with compensation but was the blame squarely on their shoulders? Just curious is all. With virtually every package I've gotten from them I always felt they went way to extremes for protection. I have a lifetime supply of bubble wrap and air bags I've saved from Tower shipments.
