Default Alien Aircraft Corsair

This is another nice kit from Alien Aircraft/Herr with quality parts and plans. I plan on building this per the plans. The instruction manual is online and must be downloaded and the manual is easy to follow. In a matter of a couple of hours I have the first half of fuselage done and will allow the PVA glue to dry overnight. Feels like I am building a large Guillows kit so far so good.

I started applying Monokote to the fuselage and tail feathers. Monokote went on without any issues except trying to apply it inside the front engine cowl. I will trim what little Monokote I could attach inside and paint the inside of the cowl. Next will be applying the decals and starting on the wing when I get another roll of Monokote insignia blue.

Well I was off work today and finished the Corsair. Not much detail but that is just the way I build. This is a great kit that goes together fast and easy. I used white glue and pretty much had it built in a day or so. With CA we are talking hours. The instruction book is a step by step guide that walks you through the build so there is no guessing what so ever. If you can build a Guillows kit then you can build this kit. The only hard part for someone could be the covering. It is an open round structure with a Gull type wing, and that can be challenging for some. I used Super Monokote and it went on nice and smooth so please no more bad mouthing Monokote. The only paint I used was inside the canopy area and inside the cowl, both black. The detail on the canopy was plain old Econokote iron on at low temp. The only modification I did was using Great Plains Corsair decals instead of the supplied decals. The Alien Aircraft decals are perfect, but I just like the shine of the Great Planes decals. I have a Alien Aircraft P-51 I want to build and cover with Chrome Monokote. Anyway off to the flying field......

Here she is all done. I really like the richness of Monokote.

Just as an aside ... (fine model and I appreciate real builds !) ... you can buy pots of water based heat activated adhesive specially for our iron on films / tex ...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Solarfilm-...item58a03e7e23

It makes those areas like tacking of inside cowls areas etc. much better ... and of course those areas of joints that lift ... tack em down again.
