Unhappy Newbie at foamplanes, HELP!

Hi, I am pretty new to foamplanes and think it looks cool to build your own plane and fly it! I have flewn alot of simulator and trainerplanes for several years, and I recently ordred a minimoa glider 1500mm! But because my winged dragon sportser had an accident with a tree its no longer flyable.. :-( but then it struck me, maybe I could use the parts from the art-tech sportsrer on a foamplane! All of the servos and the engine still work, so I assume I have the nessecary electronic parts... Could you be so kind to answer me if this is possible? I also have a old hydrofoamplaneboat-thing that I got from a friend, the same goes for it, engine and servos still work perfectly fine! Another problem is that none of the planes are powered with lipo's, is it possible to convert them into lipo's?
Regards Mats J.

Yes you can use the parts you have, as long as you build a compatible sized airplane.
There are 100's of plans online if you do some searching for foam airplane plans.

Your dragon may be more repairable than you think. I use Gorilla glue for many foam repairs, just be aware that it foams up and may get all over things if you are not expecting it.
You can use dollar store foam board for large repairs, some people remove the paper to save weight, but that also removes a lot of the stiffness of the board.
It you need to fill in a small hole, cover one side of the foam with something like scotch tape, then in a small paper cup, or the bottom 1" of a large one. put a glob of Gorilla glue (I use the white glue) in the cup, and some water, stir it very well, and pour off the excess water. Work fast as this mixture starts to foam up pretty fast.

You can fill holes, glue bad fitting parts, fill dents, and many other things with this stuff.
You can stiffen a wing by gluing a bamboo skewer to it. It will act as a wing spar or leading edge.

The Lipo question is going to cost you money, because you probably need a different electronic speed control ( ESC ) so you don't damage / destroy the Lipo's.

Your motors are probably a simple DC brushed motors, if the only have 2 power wires going to the motors then they are brushed motors. All brushless motors have 3 power wires.
Brush type ESC's are a little hard to find, but HobbyKing has some at a good price.
You can not use the wrong type ESC on a motor, it just won't work, and it will probably damage both parts.

thanks for the answer! I just order a new set of wings for the plane, they werent to expensive. But now it turns out that my esc is fried.. it is an 30a esc, but I have an 20a esc, could I use that one, or do I have to wait for a 30a in the mail?

All answers are appritiated!

Sometimes you can get away with the lower rated ESC... sometimes you just burn up another ESC by trying it.

I would wait for the right ESC.

Hi you want to get a motor thats between 1000kv and 1500 kv, that 2350kv wont turn a very big prop, its meant for a small sleek airplane, here is a better choice. the picture is showing that it can be mounted 2 ways, you just leave off one of the prop adapter that you are not going to use. a 7x6 APC prop or a 8x4 prop should work well with this motor

Generally do not buy from ebay motors / ESC or LiPo's ...... they are often resellers of gear bought from better online sources. That means higher prices, often the gear is b grade ....

Better to buy from the actual model outlets such as HeadsUp RC ... or the Hobby King warehouses.

You can use anything from eBay ........... but quite often the price you pay + shipping is higher than the High Street price.

It's worth checking out other online sources as well and compare total pricing ... and also Hobby King.
