Newest RC mag arrived today and in the Flyzone ad is a picture / dwg of their Micro , SE5a , This is great , it maybe the greatest flying micro of them all , because SE5a planes really fly well .
I am anxious for this baby .
Oh WOW it's here , and its a real beauty . It looks even better in your hand than it does in the photos . Its a good looking model even if it did not fly .
I really want to fly , but it is 34 degrees and 10-15 mph winds , not flying conditions for me .
Just after the sun dropped below the horizon , at about 33 degrees temp , the Micro Flyzone SE5a had its maiden flight . Plenty of power for the ROG , 3 clicks of down elevator and 2 clicks of left rudder and it was trimmed out , throttle at half or a little less , and it was patrol time in my sector . Great flying micro , just what you would think with all of the wing area a SE5a has .
This Micro will become a standard because of its flying abilitys .

It joins my SE5a family of PKZ SE5A , Electrifly SE5a , EFlite SE5a , and now the Micro Flyzone SE5a .
The other day I got the weather to fly the SE5a some more , 3 batteries worth of fun , flying this really great flying plane . I think that its the best flying of the Micro series . I could keep and fly this Flyzone SE5a and the Hobbyzone Champ , and have the the best available , for slow flight .
I just got the albatross about a month ago as a first foray into the world of micro. I finally got to fly it this past Mon. what a blast these things are. Id was going to pull the trigger on the SE5a today and I see Tower has the Fokker DR1 RTF for $47.13. I think Ill wait a bit longer to see if the SE5a goes on sale. If this one flies half as good as the Albatross Ill be thrilled. B

I think the Fokker DR1 flys better , than the Albatros
And the SE5a flys best of all , more wing area , lighter wing loading , slower flight possible . And slow flight is what I really like .
I wonder if they made a UM Jenny JN4 biplane , just how slow it would fly ?
The Jennys were used as trainers during the war .
No because the bricks used in these tiny airplanes include the receiver, esc, bec and servos all in one unit to save weight and cost.
So the receiver type included is what gets you in that arrangement. Since Spektrum is so popular their answer to putting a competitors "brand" receiver in their UM aircraft was AnyLink. A decent compromise and actually a clever little device. It plugs into the trainer port and is powered off the charge port. Smart.
I picked up my SE 5A from the LHS today. I had to have them order it in, as they don't normaly sell GP products. I ordered the anylink, as well, since I don't have a Tactic radio. The model itself is very nice, and the Anylink seems to work as advertised; I hooked it up to my old 72 mh Futaba T6EXA, with the crystal removed, and everything worked just as it should. I had to reverse the rudder channel, and mix ail. and rudder 100%, to get everything going the right direction, and to be able to ground steer with the left stick, and turn in the air with the right. Now I'm hoping for a nice day tomorrow, for her maiden. The last few days have been calm, cold, and foggy till after lunch, so Sun. afternoon should work out. I'll let you know how it goes.
The maiden went perfectly. Weather was clear, cool, and calm all day, but honey-do's kept me busy till 2:00, so that's when my daughter and I went to the local sports stadium for our afternoon walk, and then to an adjacent empty ball diamond for the flight. The ballfield grass was very lumpy, and the infield quite wet, but I found a fairly firm section along the 3rd base line to use for a runway, that lined up with the very gentle breeze. A quick function check, then throttle up, and she was off in a few feet, and climbing nicely. I had aligned the rudder and elevator by eye, and needed no trim at all for straight and level hands off flight. I believe that's a first for me, in 17 years of maidens! Most of the first flight was on 60% low rates, which gave very nice scale flight, and the switch to high rates made her very responsive, but still pleasant to fly. A flight with my T 28 while the battery recharged, then a second go with the SE 5a, and then the sun was getting low, so we called it a day. I'm very satisfied with this lovely little model. :-)
I know this thread is ancient, but had to post this someplace....
After sitting the fence for a while, I picked up one of these babies to play around with on a small lot near my house. This plane flew great right out of the box, just what I wanted for this limited space...BUT there was what IMO was a significant quality control issue that I felt compelled to contact Flyzone about. I just wanted to say the issue was handled professionally and with a reasonable outcome by just one call to their warranty folks.
I realize great customer service should be a "given", unfortunately so often today it is not. I felt I should recognize it in a post at least and I hope this is representative of others experience with Flyzone.
To my recollection this was my first Flyzone plane, it definitely won't be my last.
