A buddy of mine and are working on a conversion, E-flight Funtana. We ran across this last night.

It's probably pretty accurate. I happen to HAVE a Hangar 9 Fokker D VII and I put the recommended E-Flite 60 in it. As far as SCALE flight is concerned - it is OVERPOWERED!! LOL!!

A 46 would probably be the better choice for SCALE type flying. That being said - that's also what a throttle stick is for! The plane fly's great and almost any prop in the 14 - 15 - 16 inch sizes will work. A 5000 mah 6s will fly this thing about 10 minutes of spirited flight.

Okay - off my soap box about the D VII and back to the chart - which is good!

so quick question, is this to replace a gas/nitro motor? Are the batteries optimized for size/weight or flight time, cg issues? Are the motors oversized to get around adding a ton of lead,or will all of these combinations end up super tail heavy?

Otherwise, good google find, unless you simply followed the manufacture recommendations.

slow stock prop reversal. it flies! easily! 543 watt dual motor bipe slow stick. push-me-pull-you. 242 watt 3 channel slow stick. 365 watt mini ultra stick. 415 watt mini contender. 810 watt ultra stick .25e. 220 watt alpha 450 sport (retired).

Earlier this year, I checked through a giant stack of my model magazines, looking for engine performance tests on glow or gasoline, compared to electric power. Some 80 different power systems were included in the resulting database.

This performance data is tabulated in this wattflyer thread:

The various PDF files show performance sorted by watts output, engine/motor mfg, prop and so on.

It's interesting, the models under perhaps about 55 inch wingspan in the RC club I belong to are 60-70% electrified. There are a few club members also flying electric power systems over 1500 Watts. My two giant scale models are running 2500 and 3000 Watts on Hacker A60 series models. My Redwing MXSR 76 inch wingspan, 1100 square inch giant scale model is running 175 Watts per pound, and is very definitely NOT underpowered. It will fly straight up, out of sight.
