Default Servo Replacement Help Please

I have a PZ Visionaire 3D plane that uses 13 gram digital servo's (part# EFLR7155) that is stripped and needs replaced.

Other than the original how can I find a suitable replacement. No offense to E-Flite fans but th eservos seem cheap and I am looking for a little higher quality and less expense. HH wants $18 for a replacement and my gut tells me that is too much for quality level.

Hitec digital same size would be fine. Might want to get the programmer also and there is a chance you will need to either program the servo for reverse or use the reverse function of the transmitter.

ALWAYS check control directions when changing servo brand.

Check these out....:

Some are little pricey....however, without bias, HiTec serves many very well......German, Japan and Korean made.....not Hong Kong.......

THX after some research, the VA servos appear to be known for high failure rates like mine. Mine Oscillates/Flutters violently when on the ground. Problem follows the servo when I switch from rudder to elevator on the RX.

OK guys help me out here. How do I know the physical size wil fit the hole in my plane? Unfortunately the Visionaire spec does not list one single spec for this servo, most notable the physical size dimensions. Only thing it gives is the weight or 13 grams.

Are servo case dimensions standardized? I do not know what I am looking for.

servocity.com... and a ruler.

Servocity has the dimensions of the servos they sell listed on their website. A ruler and measuring the old servos will let you compare.

Note that the dimensions of all 9 gram servos are almost the same. Small enough difference that you can make them fit. 13 to 17 gram servos aren't quite as good about having similar case shapes.

There is no official standardization of servo case size. There are shapes that tend to work and thus the "standard" (appx 45 in-oz servos that for a long time were just about all you ever saw) size servos by all brands were very close tot he same size, but even then the spacing of the mounting holes proved they were off just a bit.

OK my problem is solved for now.

Hats-Off my fellow enthusiast to HH Warranty & Tech Support policies.

I did something really dumb and stupid. It is just plain ole embarrassing to admit this. I called Horizon Hobby Tech Support, told them I bought a Visionaire at a local Hobby Shop about 6 weeks ago, and the issue with the servo.

Rep looked up my name from the REGISTRATION CARD, past Account History, and then advised me: HH would send out replacement Free-Of-Charge.

Now here is the kick in the pants which I did not expect. The Rep said: "If for some reason I was at a swap meet and found some HS 5065MG servos cheap would make an OK replacement in a pinch"

Personally - because supply is not so easy for me - I use :

Turnigy
Bluebird
HXT
Hobby King own

from Hobby King ... and they do the job very well ...

I will not use Corona ! Every one I've bought of theirs have been awful ...

Just my 2c's worth ...

As an alternative (and better IMHO) option to the HS-5065 you might try these, they are excellent servos: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...10sec_16g.html

An other option is the Savox SH-0255 or 0257 which again are very good servos (0255 -= high torque, 0257 = high speed)

I wondered if someone could tell me the difference in terms of better or not between digital servos and servos that are not digital and also a reversing servo ?

Ok it is twice as much heavy than 9gm servo, but it is much powerfull, digital, metal gear, and very fast. What else you want? At that price with that holding power, it is certainly a good deal. I bought 5, and will buy more. No annoying buzzing at all!
