1D: The classical fold-up paper airplane jet, made from 8-1/2 x 11 paper.
2D? I guess that's a simulator.

I know its the wrong answer, but I always thought ALL flying was 3D.

1d is taxiing on the ground. 2d normal forward flight. 3d is flying without forward momentum, hovering on the prop, flat spins etc.

throw in a variable pitch prop and you can fly backwards for a short time, some are starting to refer to that as 4d

well that's my idea anyway and I agree Bill! all flying would seem to be 3d

I thought 3D referred to 3 channel radio flying and 2D was 2 channel radios. Wow! You learn something new everyday!

3D referres to any manuevers beyond basic rolls, loops, hammerheads, and other basic pattern manuevers. Essentially, the stuff that takes TONS of practice to do at all, let alone well. This includes mostly post stall high alpha manuevers, ie: harriers, inverted harriers, rolling harriers, rolling loops, rolling circles, hovers, torque rolls, blenders, KE spins, flat spins, walls, waterfalls, elevators, KE loops, labotamies (sp?)....the list goes on and on.

Glad this guy^ had the correct answer. Altho I am not sure a KE Loop qulifies or not. if so I done these way back int he day with many planes.
By the way KE=Knife edge.

Dont let him fool you I learned all of the unlined in about 2 months, would have only been abotu one but I was chicken to fly down close tot he ground where I could autally see the plane. ( I have flown since 1989 also, that helped, I guess)

3D is loads of fun, I have hadmore fun learning 3D then every before, always something new to learn also. I am still working on a few of mine to get them 100% perfect, I can hover so good now its kinda boring .

I am not sure what a rolling loop is, I guess thats what called whem you do loops over and over and over..

A rolling loop is the same as a rolling circle. Its just done vertical instead of horizontal.

I consider KE loops to be a 3D manuever. The plane isn't flying on the wing, though the wing isn't stalled, and then you go past that by having it fly a loop in the yaw axis rather than the pitch axis.
