I am starting to convert a Norvel Neo-Fun Classic 1/2 A (plane in my avatar) to electric. I will try to update the thread with my progress and probably questions that will come up.

I have run into a small problem. This plane has tricycle landing gear so the nose is pitched forward a little. The new prop that is going on is a 9X6 which is a little large for this 1/2A. I tried bigger wheels and the size I have to use are a little to big. I don't really want it to look like it's an Alaskan bush plane. My question is, is there a particular point that landing gear should be placed to make it a tail dragger. I am thinking of moving the rear wheels forward.

Tail draggers, as a rule, have their landing gear even with, or slightly ahead of the leading edge of the wing. Too far forward and it is hard of them to rotate and get off of the ground, to far back and you have nose over problems. Look at most WW II birds and you will see the wheels aligning with the leading edge.

It is finally done. I had to change it to a tail dragger due to prop clearance.

Motor Axi 2212/26

9X6 Slowfly prop

Jeti Advance plus 12 with program card

Thunder Power 3 cell 1320 mah11.1V

Radio Futaba Skysport 4 with Futaba reciever and 2 Hi-tech HS-81 servos.

I am still trying to work the bugs out, I can't tell if the CG is off or if the motor is alittle to powerful.
