View Full Version : Battery combos for Power 60?

I'm getting ready to do my first glow to electric conversion. It will be a Hangar 9 Corsair. I've got the E-Flight Power 60 and one 6s1p FP 3700 battery pack. It seems that most recommend a 6s for this plane. However, I own 8 x 5s1p 3700 packs (used on my helis where I need two at a time). Does anyone have any experience using the Power 60 with FP 5s 3700's in a .60 sized application? Any recommendations? It would be great if I could leverage the battery stock I already own.t

Have you tried any of the calc programs to check the difference in specs?
I have the 60 in the H9 Camel, spinning a 16x8 blade. Dropping from a 6S to 5S drops the amps by approx 7, the thrust by about 23 oz, and speed by 5 mph.

I have flown and still fly this motor on both 6S and 5S packs. I am flying it currently in my Fliton Freestyle Edge on a 5S Electric Power swinging an 18X10. 59 amps and about 1100 watts. Great performance. On a 6S I swing a 16x10 for about the same power. The 6S gives more RPM than the 5S, but you cant really tell from flying it.

I have used this motor, in a Seagull Harrier 3D, Hanger 9 FuntanaX, Planes Plus Dream 110 and now the Edge Freestyle. It is a great motor.

I fly one with a 6S2P propped with a 17X10e.

If you want more speed, try a 16x12 E prop with the 5s pack.

Thanks for all the replies. I just maidened my first glow to electric conversion, a Hanger 9 F4U Corsair. I used the 16 x 10e since my LHS didn't have anything bigger. It only pulled 788w, peak, on a 5s1p FP 3700 using a Hacker 77-O-H (8khz switching, 3 deg advance timing). Looks like I can fly for 7 minutes before hitting the 80% depleted mark.

Follow on question is what esc timing advance have you guys tried on the Power 60? What esc settings do you like best?
