I have the $20 Yak and the $30 brushless outrunner from Hobby Lobby.
I don't work for hobby lobby and I've never bought anything from them
before. But I have to say that I am more than impressed with this combo.
This is my first electric plane and it came out a bit heavy. This motor just
makes the plane leap out of my hand. Totally cool.
I'm using a 3 cell LiPo and a 20 Amp speed control.

Best $50 I ever spent.

I got the same motor at SEFF for that plane.

After I got home I decided to put it on the shelf for a better project. It's a cute little thing.
Put the Balsa Products BP 12 Outrunner on it, 2s1500 PolyQuest, 10X3.8 APC. Leaps out of your hand also. Since then, added Tetherite landing gear, 8.2 oz. without the battery.

My friend has the same setup as yours, but he added the landing gear also, we haven't test flown it yet. Will get back later.

Have a bunch of these motors flying everything from Alpha warbirds to 50in Eindeckers. For the price, they are a lot of bang for the buck.

Yep I have one from HL. Free shipping and $30 later. Don't even have a plane for it....yet...

I have one in the H-L Yak...
Mine came in at 10.25 oz. w/ 3 Draganfly servos, an E-Flite 20A. esc, GWS pico 4 ch. rx. and Kokam 640 3 cell...

Flys quite well...also "leaps out of my hand", but not exactly a 3D type.
That's fine with me though, because w/ the extra wt., I can fly it in a relitively stiff breeze that keeps my Tribute grounded.
