View Full Version : Big Lipo packs - LAST REDUCTION!! 6th Sept, 2007

08-21-2007, 10:49 PM
Hi All,

I'm selling four 5 cell lipo packs. These are the packs that Iíve used in my Yak 54 as 10S packs. (Two fives wired in series) These are very powerful 6300mah packs with the new copper tab cells. I have Sermos (Anderson power poles) connectors on them and they also have Hyperion balance taps.

Their discharge rating is 20C continuous/30C burst. This means that they are rated for 126 amps continuous discharge! They all have only fourteen flights each on them so they are just about broken in now. :)

They have never been charged at more than a 1C rate and they have ALWAYS been network balance charged. Iíve also never run these packs at a discharge rating above 11.58C (thatís 73 amps or only 57.93% of their continuous rating) and they come down on average at about 37į to 40į Celsius. (98.6į to 104į Fahrenheit)

On average a flight takes just under 3200mah out of them which means that I run them down to about than 50% of their capacity per flight. Their after flight voltage averages around 3.8V per cell. At 73A they bench test at 2649 watts which means they hold 3.62V per cell at 11.58C ... which I think is incredible.

They are currently being sold for US $320 each (see http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-6300-185-Pack.htm (http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-6300-185-Pack.htm) for pricing and more details) but Iím letting them go for $225 each shipped. I would prefer to sell them as 10S packs (which is how I flew them) so if someone wants two of them Iíll let them go for $215 each shipped. (that's 105 bucks off retail!)

Reason for selling? Iím going up to 12S packs for my Yak! Reason for selling so cheaply? I need the money FAST. (12S packs cost a lot ya know and I need em NOW! ;) ) As such if they are not spoken for fast, I will take them off the market.

I prefer PayPal. PM me for payment details please.

P.S. Upon request I can provide statistical data (like after flight temperature, after flight voltage, mah back in per charge etc) for every one of the fourteen flights that each of these packs have had. (Ok so I'm a little ana1 ... but I take care of my stuff! ;) )

Two gone but now I'm gonna sell the remaining two separately as well ... just in case someone only wants to buy a 5S pack.

They are currently being sold for US $320 each (see http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-6300-185-Pack.htm (http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-6300-185-Pack.htm) for pricing and more details) but Iím letting them go for $215 each shipped now. (reduced from $225).

I would prefer to sell these last two as a 10S pack (which is how I flew them) so if someone wants them both Iíll let them go for $205 each shipped. (that's 115 bucks off retail!)

FURTHER REDUCED! Now US $195 each shipped!

I'm really surprised that no one has snapped up these last two packs yet. Is it price? If so I'm REALLY surprised at that. I did some research to see what packs of this size are going for out there online, (typically the best prices available) and this is what I came up with.

First off Lipos nowadays IMHO fall into three broad categories.

1. Premium packs

2. Value packs

3. Budget packs

"Premium packs" are the "big names" like Thunder Power, Hyperion, FlightPower, Tanic and Kokam (do they still sell packs? http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif ) . Even though Polyquest is a "big name" I don't count them in this category because they don't seem to make the big packs. (5000 mah and above)

"Value packs" are the packs whihc give good performance for "affordable" prices.

"Budget packs" are the packs which give "ok" performance for cheap.

Having said that, let's review some prices! (All in USD) Keep in mind not all of the premium packs even come as big as the packs I'm selling! I've tried to review the ones that come closest to the size of my packs. (6300mah)

Its rare to find "budget" packs in this size. These are arguably the top rated chinese "name" in Lipo packs out there and they perform reasonably well. However as you can see they are only 12C cells.

The packs that I'm selling (MaxAmps 5S3P 18.5V 6300mah) are arguably the BEST 20C "value" packs around. (some would even class them as "premium")

If you compare them to A123 cells, the closest comparative A123 pack would be a 6S 3P pack which is 18 cells. Eighteen cells even at "great" Ebay prices would be about USD 180 plus shipping ... AND you'd have to put them together AND they'd weigh 46 ounces as opposed to my pack's 27 ounces.

The best priced 6S 3P A123 "ready made" pack goes for US $327 plus shipping. No disrespect to A123 cells (I'm getting some myself!) or the people that love em ... I'm just comparing! http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif

As you can see, if you compare my packs to the other LIPO "value" packs I've listed (which typically only go up to 5000 mah on average) the price that I'm asking is on average about HALF of what they go for! http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

BTW, these are almost new, (just 14 cycles) in excellent condition and have been maintained impeccably, so c'mon people ... GET THESE PACKS! http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

P.S. This research alone should be worth somethin', so throw me a bone, darn it! http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif
