ben,

May I recommend you amend the title to something like "Benovisoff's Thread" or the like? Might be a little easier for people to understand the content just from the title.

benovisoff

got it. but... how?

Thats what I thought. :) Don't they keep threads on topic, and other things of that nature also?

That is correct also. We also try to keep the unwanted spammers off the forum. We generally just participate in the forum, just like you.

T-28's one I've wanted for a while but E-Flight's $$ for me, I was hope'in to bash one up sometime but the fuse is big an hard to replacate in the Chunk-glider world, But I got me a idea, (more later), what a whirlwind? your bub, steve

benovisoff

How do you make all of those foam planes form scratch? The T-28 is an excellent move, and will take any hard landing you may throw at it. You cah see my other reach whirlwind posts, and there is a great video of it if you google it, its the first vid. bub ben :)

Bon'so Bub::I had two Heart Boo,Boo's and a little stroke awhile back and did'nt work for a while so they were all I could afford to build as I had all the other stuff (flight-pack combos) and I learned alot along the way!! I still only make 10.000 a year so thank goodness everythings (house-car-boat)paid for, My lights stay on and I don't get hungy so lifes Good!!I fix-up crashed&trashed planes from Bub's and am always putt'in something together for the Kids in my RC youth-Club I've had go'in for um-teen years now and that'll help keep ya sharp:ws: !! your bub, steve

Well if yer buildin planes and helping kids, life is always good. Too bad about those boo boos. I can't build for my life, but flying is another issue. I just maidened my T-28 today, and by the end of the day I have gone to the park 3 times, drained six batteries, and had 20 take offs and 4 landings :) J/K. on't slow down that quick on landing, will go forever on pavement, but I'm not gonna add flaps like most people do after thier first flight. I found the perfect plane, but I have to alway fly on full throttle because it wont go fast enough and stay afloat good enough for me. Alot of people put power 10s on their T-28s/corsairs, but I don't know. It only pulls 20 amps with a 10X7, with a thirty amp esc, so I might just put a 12 something prop on it for a little extra oomph.

Bub Steve
01-12-2009, 01:12 AM
oomph.Is Good!!!!!!! bub, steve

benovisoff
01-12-2009, 01:30 AM
oomph is very good!!!! but too much of it and it will look like my first slowstick, but thats a long story for another time.

FlyingMonkey
01-12-2009, 02:25 AM
do NOT put the 12" anything on there.

stick with an 11x5

benovisoff
01-12-2009, 02:35 AM
hmph. well.... what gives is power, prop size or pitch? what gives it speed, prop size or pitch? It has a 30amp esc, but I also have a 36 on my ss, and I can swap the escs for a 12

FlyingMonkey
01-12-2009, 02:45 AM
Quick lesson, as I understand it...

The larger the prop size, the more thrust. Thrust being the ability to pull by weight, not speed.

Pitch determines speed forward. So, an 11x5 prop, in theory would pull the plane forward 5 inches per revolution. I say in theory, because factors such as drag and weight reduce the actual forward motion.

So, this all being said, the larger the prop, and the more pitch it has, the more draw it demands from the motor.

FlyingMonkey
01-12-2009, 02:49 AM
There's only so much speed you're going to be able to get out of your T-28.

That nose is one heck of a speed break, then you have the drag generated by the landing gear.

This all being said, pitch determines speed. The KV does as well. This motor is around 900 KV if I remember correctly. It is essentially "geared" for more thrust than speed.

Higher KV motors are designed for speed, but can not handle the larger props needed for thrust.

Thrust is important for being able to pull the plane into vertical maneuvers, quick climb outs and the like.

benovisoff

I knew that about kvs, I run a 3600 kv inrunner on my ezstar. I don't know, I saw a trojan fly with a power 25 and 12X10, and a slowstick with a 15 with same prop, and I do have amps to spare. I think a twelve might work well, and it should pull less than 36 amps on a 480. my 10X10 on a 480 pulls 22 amps at full throttle. would a 3-blade give more power? I have heard yesses and nos. which is right?

FlyingMonkey
01-12-2009, 02:59 AM
you'll do as you will. I had this plane, and it flew happiest for me with the 11" prop.

I also use the motor from that now dead plane in other applications, and out of the props I use on it, the 11" treats it best.

FlyingMonkey
01-12-2009, 03:01 AM
do you have a meter that you're getting these readings with, or are you just going by what you're reading. The stock motor in the trojan is not a true eflite 480, do not confuse the two.

benovisoff
01-12-2009, 03:24 AM
I know, I am using the meter. with a 10X10 the higher kv one pulls 22 amps, and the lower kv one pulss 20 amps. I'll try an 11, but I already have to many props around for planes that are long deceased. that arent 11

benovisoff
01-22-2009, 02:13 AM
ALRIGHT! kinda got away from this thread but i'm back! trojan is great. getting aluminium motor mount. prop adapter broke today so I robbed one off my SS. This week is finals week, very nervous. I flew today at school from the astro turf. I got few compliments and some WTFs? Had fun though. lots of flips on hard landings and this bird took it all! very nice and durable. could use more power though. They should star making it with a power 10. I've seen one with a 32! very nice and well balanced. made me crap my pants when it flew over me though!

benovisoff
01-26-2009, 06:56 AM
Monkey, you are totally right. the best prop of all was an 11X7, thats the max I could go for no shaking. Anyway, got a new phone today! w00t! I am sorry to say I was in dire need of one so I had to switch my plane fund to my phone fund :( well I did get a great verizon voyager though. very nice like the T-28 :)

Must have been something else that happened behind the scenes. Of course the cussing didn't help.

PS 14 years old and swearing already? That says something right there.
