View Full Version : Lipo capacity loss

Hi there some twelve months ago I purchased some Emcotec lipo cells with one of their power distribution setups I recently cycled both packs to find the capacity of both has now dropped to 1300 mahs instead of the nominal 2000mahs I'm not happy with this as I doubt if the two packs have seen 300 cycles since I bought them. Is this the norm for lipos if so I may consider returning to nicads:(

300 cycles is pretty impressive if that's per pack. I doubt if you could get NiCads to last much longer if you use them at levels anywhere near their extreme limits.

Have you figured cost per minute of flying time and done a comparison?

Thanks for the reply Matt I've since found the answer to my own question, the Emcotec packs are fitted with circuitry to prevent both overcharge and overdischarge and the settup is quite aggressive and prevents me from getting out the last 400-500 mahs of capacity. As I use these cells to power the radio gear on a large scale petrol powered model this will not be an issue;)
