For those of you who know me you are used to this... lol

Just went to Blacksburg this weekend for the New Cadet Parade. My son is a sophomore this year majoring in Physics and is a Cadet with the Corp there at Tech. He also plays trombone in the Corp Regimental Band, also known as the Highty Tighties. I can remember like yesterday him being just a small kid and the day we got our first RC Airplane. He has grown so much and become a fine young man and leader.

As a sophomore he has been selected to be a Staff band member leading his Brass section. He is also a mentor to 2 freshman cadets and was selected as the Commander of the Field special weapons training unit for the AFROTC unit there.

When I see all that is wrong with this world I know there is still hope for us because of young men and women like these who choose to actually earn something in college by learning and practicing leadership at the highest level of professionalism.

Proud of you Son.

That he is Steve. You and a lot of other fellow flyers had a lot more to do with his growing up than you might think. Thanks for being who you are and contributing to his growth at SEFF.

The USAF academy missed out on getting an outstanding young man. Glad he's doing so well Bill!

Thanks Don.

I actually think this was the better option for him anyway. He has the best of both worlds, the military academy portion of the corp yet the education part is co mingled with the regular civilian students. Gives them a more well rounded education.

(and he is closer to home):D

Thanks Mike.

Remember this plane? We flew the poo out of this bird. it moved on to a new home last spring at our swap meet. I got my 1/4 scale cub and a guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse on this one.

Yeah that was a real proud papa moment for sure.

We took ground school together as a Christmas present to him right after his 16th birthday. We couldn't both afford to take lessons so I let him pursue his dream. He is going to make a fine pilot somewhere after school for sure.
