Been reading all your articles closely as I have just purchased my first RC plane (Foam Catalina). Have only just started putting it together with the aid of your Build review (great by the way).
At the moment I am going to keep mine stock as I am a beginner and the slower the better right?
There is a couple of questions I wish to ask you about the catalina.
Firstly you mentioned you put reinforcing tape in the usal spots (sticky tape?). Where are these usual spots that you mention?
Also, I have stuck on the bottom halves of the engine cowling with good glue that wont come off, I dont think I should have done this as I may wish to change the motors out one day with BL. Can you buy spares for this plane?
Can all motors mount on those wooden sticks like our stock brushed 370's?
Can we just change over to a Lipo battery without doing any other mods?
Is the stock performance OK enough for good flight?
Sorry, so many questions from a Newbie.
    Any help would be great.

Heh... thanks for picking me up there, smoke. I've actually been a bit too distracted to notice my profile page being neglected, what with taking care of the 7-week-old and all. Speaking of which, I hope that your newest future flying ace is likewise doing well. You're going to have a whole clan of 3D foamie combat sharks before it's over with, aren't you? :)

Hi ncrelae! I honestly don't know of a site on the Internet that sells replacement parts for the Exceed-RC Pitts.

However, attaching/re-attaching the rudder to the vertical stabilizer and installing the horizontal stabilizer is really easy.

For the rudder (which should have come preattached to the vertical stabilizer, so I'm assuming you need to re-attach it), I like using AC-style hinges like these on hobbycity.com. Just make two small slits in the rudder (one each at about 1" from the top and bottom) and then line the rudder up to the horizontal stabilizer and make two corresponding slits in the vertical stabilizer. Then, squirt a little Gorilla, Sumo, or CA glue in each of the slits, insert the two AC hinges in the rudder, then slide them into the corresponding slits in the vert. stabilizer. Let it dry, and you should be good to go.

For attaching the horiontal stabilizer to the fuselage, you really should glue that. I recommend using a light, but very tough glue like Gorilla or Sumo. Alternately, you can use CA or 5-minute epoxy, which would also work fine. You could try taping it on or even going with some kind of breakaway velcro solution, but I wouldn't want to risk losing the plane due to it working its way lose. Glue that sucker back on and be done with it. :)

    Good luck!

I saw your review of the Pitts S2A brushless and I purchased one. Any insight on where to get spare parts or another way of attaching the rudder or Horizontal Stab.?
In the instructions it mentions - glue. Wanted to see if there is a less permanent method.

    Thank you in Advance,

    Hey buddy

I need your kind help on my rtf kit I bought.
Its the same one as you posted a review for Exceed-rc Pitts S-2A.
I did all the assembly and everything works fine except the "Aileron" I tried all the buttons on the controller but its not moving. Is there a specific setting on the controller I have to adjust for it to work? There are a few knobs onthe controller on the bottom right if you look andyou can slide them up or down. I was wondering if they needed any adjustments? Please help me as I was unable to find help anywhere else. I just need to know how to control th movemet of "Aileron" from the controller.

You had me nervous there for a second, Lt.--I read up to "I don't think I've ever told you this, but I LOVE..." and I had to think for a minute if I was ready to finish reading that sentence. :)

Of course, there's nothing wrong with a healthy man love.

What the heck--I love your planes, Lt. ;)
