I believe scratch and short-kit building are the best teacher for building skills. After a few kits, it's the next logical step. Then comes "Own Design", now that's really fun!
Mary? Funny you should ask. We (Mods) have been busy editing her "Greetings" from so many profiles, I forgot my own! But she's gone now.

Thanks for the info and links for the cowl forming Bob. Good stuff. Only poroblem is my current build needs cowls just a bit over 4" in diameter so the usual 2 litre bottle is just a little small for it. Going to have to look at built up cowls instead I think.

Tom, first I can't believe no one has left you any messages, second I hope you have gotten some ideas on making a heat formed or even built-up cowl. PM me if you think I can help you in any way on heat forming techniques.
