In the interest of file uploading expediency, I provide the following link to these photos:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...19188&page=236

Scroll down thru the messages and you will run into the signiture photos. Please note that in no way am I being critical of Wattflyer by not posting the pics here. No hidden agenda's. I find I can upload faster to the other site, and in the interest of ALL WTTM pilots getting a chance to see their signiture, I elected to post the photos accordingly. I hope Don, Mike, and others will understand this, I am serving as an intermediate here, and am most appreciative to Wattflyer for providing space for the "Final Chapter".

I hope the World Tour Tiger Moth project will serve as an inspiration for others attemping similar feats of cross country/continent flights. It has been a real honor for me to have participated in the WTTM saga, most especially in being able to deliver "our" very special little Moth to AMA's National Model Aviation Museum. Special thanks to Keith Wilson, Buzz McMillian, and to Maria VanVreede who is the Registrar at the Museum, for their assistance in placing the World Tour Tiger Moth in it's new home, for all Moth flyers, past - present - and future, to learn of its amazing saga.

Thanks so much for all your help, Doug. I'm sure none of the administration minds the link. They all know the bind I'm in and I'll transfer that page on RCG over here eventually.

Thanks to Wattflyer for letting me find a home here. Although the actual flight was done on RCGroups.... Wattflyer owns the fact that we reached our final goal here first. So, we hope to become part of Wattflyer's hall of fame. I honestly couldn't care less what happens on RCGroups. RCGroups just "allowed" us to create our own tread about the event. They were in no way supportive nor would they even think of putting us in an "Events" category on the first page of their site! Wattflyer welcomed us with open arms and we ARE in a special events forum. Some adminstrators and moderators ARE capable of that on RCGroups..... but they won't give you the time of day if you ask for support or even an article in JB's magazine.
"Only if I can fly it at the AMA first and sign it!" I told him we didn't need his help that badly, and look what happened here! Not only that but we're going to be featured in a future edition of "Model Aviation". That's the best we could hope for! Every AMA member will see the moth and read the article about it. It REALLY helps to get the support of the AMA!

<I didn't post this to flame anyone or any place. I simply told the truth!" ;) RCGroups REALLY blew it! I still don't think they have any idea how much they could have gotten from coverage of our event! That's what I'd call ..."Shooting yourself in the foot!" > ::o

Congrats on a job well done guys. I never thought I would ever see the day she went home to rest. Thanks to Keith, Doug, Buzz for seeing it through, and all of the pilots.

I received the paperwork from the AMA today. I have signed it and it will be in Monday's mail to Buzz for him to sign.

Thanks, Gene, so very very much for your efforts with the WTTM. It is so great to hear from you again. Please stay in touch. The entire WTTM project owes so much to you, the builder and donator of the World Tour Tiger Moth. Words really fail me when I try to describe the honor of being the one to present the Moth........your Moth......to the National Model Aviation Museum at AMA - Muncie. The entire World Tour Tiger Moth experience, from the time I flew the plane to when I received it from Keith and subsequently presented it to AMA, will never be forgotten.

Thanks again for "logging" in. You made my day!! :)

Great to see your post, Gene!

Your creation is now a legend, and I wanted to let you know, I'm still flying one of your cowls on my original TM, with two spares waiting for my unboxed TM's to get built!

Wow, Gene! Good to see you on Wattflyer! The pleasure was ours....all of us. The dream came true.... It was great to talk to you on the phone and to exchange emails. Thank you again for building such a strong and determined Moth! I'll be waiting for the letter of deed. From me it will go to Keith and then on to the Museum.

I wish Doug would post what happened after the plane was officially handed over to the museum. He tried to pick it up again and they stopped him! It's not ours anymore! The only way it can be handled is with white cotton gloves on! Doug made a comment that he got a lump in his throat when he realized the finality of the whole thing. It's over! We did it, and AMA owns it now.... it's history. I want to make one last stab at Guiness Book of Records. I don't think this has been done before. If not, we'll be the first and the only ones who can claim the record. :tc::tc::tc:

The World Tour Tiger Moth is now featured on the AMA website and our tour will be covered in a coming issue of Model Aviation. So every AMA member will get an issue if you're getting Model Aviation now. Maria, at the AMA Museum sent this link to the blurb on the AMA web site.

If you haven't seen it yet, the donation is announced on our Recent Acquisitions page at: http://www.modelaircraft.org/museum/...uisitions.aspx</pre>

Great article Buzz but how did they spell Wattflyer??!!

firemanbill 07-14-2008 08:14 PM

Watt the heck is a Wyatt Flyer???

Don Sims 07-14-2008 09:54 PM

An Eyrp brother who flies R/C planes?

gfdengine204 07-14-2008 10:09 PM

Maybe he flies only at the O.K. Corral?

boomerace 07-14-2008 10:31 PM

Hey guys the reason for the mistake is simple. Due to the economy all proof readers have been laid off! Only top management has had no layoffs. Soon all Pyramid Ord charts will be inverted (triangle wide at top and coming to a point at bottom) with one worker position at the bottom and increasing width as you go up through higher management.:rolleyes:

gfdengine204 07-14-2008 10:38 PM

Sounds like the Illinois State Police Org chart.......LOL

Elfi Flyer 07-15-2008 01:29 AM

Watts in a Name?

Wyatt Flyer! Dang...... I am originally from Western New York State (near Buffalo), and have lived in the south since '85. Could it have been my accent??

I remember an R/C'er down this way several years ago, his last name I thought was Wyatt. Turns out, as I was to learn a few years later, his last name was White! So it begs the question............. will our Moth become a .......Myth???

Buzz 07-15-2008 02:48 AM

never noticed it. I'll ask Maria to correct that. Sorry.

JAY! Thanks for posting!

Maria wanted people to send in their favorite pictures of the Moth. I asked Keith if he wanted to print some out.. but, if any of you have pictures of the WTTM in the air.... or someone flying it, we need a few good pictures to go along with the display. Does anyone have a picture of Wayne (Baskecase) flying it? If you have pictures you'd like to print and send in please email me at [email protected] .

Jay, I already sent Marie the story of the Moth being put in jail in Kahoka, MO.
It turned out to be one of the funniest events on the tour. We need more anecdotes from people who flew it. Any little thing that happened, was humorous ... scared you to death... or whatever, you can send it in to Jay at his email address above or you can send it to me and I'll forward it to Jay.

We expect about half the magazine for the story. :D:D:D And I'd like a personal misspelling of that other site... can you print it as "RCGrumps?

If someone on the great and wonderful RCGroups WTTM forum would link to this, I would appreciate it. I AM on RCGRoups under another name, but I'm not posting. I'm doing something else.

Anyway, thanks... questions? Post them here!

All the best,

Buzz

Attention all WTTM Pilots and Participants

The World Tour Tiger Moth will finally be going on display at AMA's National Aviation Museum in Muncie, some time this coming April. Eleven of the many photos taken by pilots and others of the WTTM will initially be included with the display. AMA's museum curator, Maria VanVreede, needs permission from the folks who posted photos and text, so as to use these photos on an every changing photo presentation with the display. I have emailed and PM's the people involved with the initial 11 photos, asking them to contact Maria with an email advising permission to use these photos. AMA would like to have permission from ALL who provided photos and text to provide permission to use same with the on-going display. Makes no difference where you posted the photos, be it here on Wattflyer or on RCGroups. What is important is that we WTTM participators usher our special little Moth to the stage at AMA with our permissions to use her historical records.

You can contact Maria at: [email protected]

Thanks to all for your help. Feel free to email me with any questions you have concerning this photo/text permission.

Good flying, and keep them Moths airborn!!

aeromite 03-18-2009 02:52 PM

Done!

All is go!

Keith:

Thanks for the follow-up. I understand the WTTM will be on display for at least a year, according to Jay Smith (Dr. Who) at AMA. Maybe I should drive up your way this spring and give you a ride to AMA! Only problem, I might not be able to get you back home for at least a week or so!

Keep in touch.

Oh yeah, you guy going to have an electric fly-in again this June??
