Indoor Flying in Fort Worth, TX
1 Attachment(s)
Hello all. I've been given permission for us to fly at the gym in the school I work at. Generally it will be on Saturday from 5pm till 10pm. This thread will be the place to go to get location information as well as flying times/dates.

The address is 1001 E. Bailey Boswell Road Fort Worth, TX 76131. It's basically at the corner of Blue Mound Road (156) and E. Bailey Boswell Road.

This site is a DOUBLE court gym with a very high ceiling. AMA is required, and there is a $5 landing fee. 100% of which goes to the school. No alcohol or tobacco is allowed on campus.

Let me repeat we have TWO HUGE SEPARATE GYMS connected in the middle by a huge double door! So we should be able to get a ton of flying done. We don't have tables like we did at TCA, but I'm working on it. We do have chairs though.

Below is a map with directions.

We will be flying this Saturday, October 9th from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.

RedTalon 10-07-2010 01:38 AM

So where's the closest Logan's? :D

Well, it's about 8.7 miles away, and if your going back to Weatherford it's on the way!

Directions to Logans from the Gym.

Red, this is indoor flying, not a 3D Hobbies FLI. I have doubts that these folks eat like they do at a FLI.

Going to have to come try the facilities in Nov.

birdie_in_texas 10-08-2010 09:05 PM

Yay! A new place to crash!!

now we have to break in a new waitress at this Logans!! hahahaha

rickgode 10-09-2010 12:23 AM

Birdie, I know you can crash anything, but this gym is pretty big so you will have to TRY and crash stuff.

I really need to put faces with people's usernames and I don't really know what FLI stands for either? But I can hold my own at Logans.

RonR214 10-09-2010 06:20 AM

Sorry Ricky, FLI = Fly-Lo-In, name of the Spring Fling for the 3D flyers.

rickgode 10-09-2010 05:44 PM

I see Ron. I wouldn't know anything about 3D, I'm just a 2.5D pilot. ;)

To everyone else, "We're flying tonight (Oct 9th) at 5!"

Ronin8451 10-09-2010 08:17 PM

The Logan's that OUR waitress works at now is the one in Hurst on 820E just North of Pipeline by NE Mall ( if she said the real one) . I have a girls Volleyball game that I promised to attend tonight, so I won't get to come, but you guys call me and I'll come meet and eat !!

birdie_in_texas 10-09-2010 10:57 PM

Can I bring the 500 and try to hover it..?

I think it is the only thing I have that is in flyable condition..! :)

rickgode 10-10-2010 04:58 AM

Sure you can. I brought my 500 and flew it all over the place! Sammie came down too, but we didn't see you Birdie?

Ricky, I am not a 3D flier either, more like a 3/4 flier, but I like to watch them. My take offs can be ok or ground loops and the only thing about my landings is that I don't have a choice, they are going to happen one way or another. I do have a couple of 3D capable planes that I want to fly, but have to get things under control first.

Family stuff conspired against me..

I will endeavor to make the next one..!

rickgode 10-13-2010 01:04 AM

We ARE flying this Saturday, October 16th in the Gym from 5:00 to 10:00. $5 landing fee.

multicasting 10-14-2010 06:29 AM

This is great! I will be doing exhibition nitro flights at Mountainview College all during the day as they celebrate their 40th anniverssary. If we shut down soon enough I might be able to get over and fly with you guys. I am definately getting this location on my calendar.

rickgode 10-19-2010 05:21 AM

We are NOT flying this week (October 23) or next week (October 30). I have a golf tournament this weekend, and Halloween stuff the next. I'll try and get us in the gym on November 6th. I hope everyone can come out.

birdie_in_texas 10-20-2010 11:43 PM

Just when I had something ready to fly, and the mother-in-law here to help out after wife's surgery..

booo on stupid "golf".. hahahaha

Justin Stuart 10-22-2010 07:41 PM

I might try and make it out there. Sounds like fun.

birdie_in_texas 10-24-2010 05:40 AM

Sorry about that golf tournament ...40mph winds and driving rain..what a lovely day for golf! hahahah not..!

rickgode 10-24-2010 05:10 PM

Listen here birdy! The tournament was on Friday (thank goodness it didn't rain then) and we shot 15 under (18 under won it). Since I was gone all day Friday, I had to do family stuff on Saturday.

We're still NOT flying next weekend October 30th, but will probably fly next on November 6th. As soon as I'm certain, I'll post it.

birdie_in_texas 10-24-2010 06:10 PM

well that is cool..did you win anything at the golf tournament? -15 is amazing! We gotta start calling you Tiger Jr..!

rickgode 11-02-2010 04:32 AM

No birdy, I didn't win anything... (not this time anyway!)

On to better news! We WILL be flying this Saturday, November 6th from 5 to 10.

You in town?

sr71fan 11-02-2010 07:50 PM

Nope. :( Wish I was. Hope to be soon. :)

birdie_in_texas 11-02-2010 10:55 PM

We all hope so too my friend...you are sorely missed! :)

sr71fan 11-03-2010 12:47 AM

Thanks Birdie!

midoco 11-06-2010 03:44 AM

We are still on for tomorrow evening right? Have some new stuff that needs to fly, and an old tripacer too.

rickgode 11-06-2010 03:45 AM

We're still on from 5 until 10. $5 landing fee. The volleyball nets should be down and the goals should be up.

midoco 11-06-2010 04:05 PM

Is there AC power for charging at this facility?

rickgode 11-06-2010 04:31 PM

It's about like TCA when it comes to outlets. There are only a couple. I've brought an extension cord and a power strip. There are also no tables do you will need to bring your cool foldup one.

gwh 11-06-2010 07:35 PM

Is it Telefoam friendly?

Don't know, but well find out if it's 6' tripacer friendly tonight. I wouldn't fly my telefoam in there... But I'll fly yours ;)

rickgode 11-06-2010 08:18 PM

That sounds like a challenge! There is a ton of room outside. (That's usually where I fly my TREX 500) So if you want to fly your telefoam out there have at it. But, I'd really like to see it indoors... Inverted limbo anyone?

(I'm just sayin, I'm terrible at inverted with my foamies. I always mess up on the rudder)

midoco 11-06-2010 08:24 PM

Well... If Ricky says it's ok then bring it!

midoco 11-07-2010 03:16 AM

What fun! It's been a while since I've flown in a regular sized gym. Next time I won't bring so much big stuff.

Thanks Ricky,

Chris Moon 11-08-2010 05:10 PM

Good to meet you this weekend. Hopefully I can talk Mike into putting together some small combat planes. 6 or 7 in there would be a blast.

rickgode 11-10-2010 03:07 AM

I'm glad you guys had fun. I'm pretty sure that we WONT be flying next Saturday, but will be flying on the 20th. I'll post when I know 100%.
