Haven't been here in a while.
I'm more interested in what a plane can do than what it looks like and getting an unusual idea (not necessarily new idea) implemented and working fairly well.

This one is a canard with vectored thrust for take-off (I rotate the thrust to the full forward position almost immediately after takeoff).
My youtube channel has some other planes I did as well. None exactly pretty, but some "off the beaten track".

Just flew this one this morning to play with varying thrust angle in flight - you can do some crazy stuff with that :D

The three take-offs and two landings in the video below pretty much says it all, but I've also made a "tips" video discussing the final modifications.

Sbach342Build

1 Attachment(s)
Here is my Sbach build before the maiden which was not perfect by no
means. She was a little nose heavy due to the short tail moment.
I will have to add some weight in the rear end.
Should be ok once i get her balanced.

nuteman, that's a crazy plane! Congrats on your success.

Congrats to you too, Crash.

Very nice big plane, you must have a large flying area for that.
I wouldn't be able to fly it in my small flying area beside my house.
I have built a few of Ed's designed planes too but smaller.

Some of my scratch fleet :D

7 Attachment(s)
I have a few :D
48in ws AC47 gunship call sign "Spooky". Blue fan fold wing and 6mm Depron fuse and tail. First flown Dec '08, still in use.
34in ws 400 sport fun flyer, much like a Kaos.....fan fold wing, Depron everything else. First flown Fall '08, still in use.
40in ws split tail pattern type, very 60's inspired call sign "Flash Back Too" FFF wing, Depron fuse and tail, rudders and rear steer operate off one servo (self designed). First flown Oct '10, still in use.
45in ws 3D type, Edge 540 inspired....first one I ever tired a Knife Edge Loop. Fantastic flyer. First flown Summer '09, still in use.
34in ws 3D type, left over wooden wing and self designed fuse and tail, call sign "Bitsa" as in Bits O this and that :D. First flown Winter '10, still in use.
42in ws tail less design, uses a proven flying wing I designed with a self designed fuselage, call sign "Galaxie" as it was inspired by a 50's Tom Swift novel. First flown Nov'13, won an award here in Chellie's contest, flown/enjoyed yesterday.

As you can tell, I LOVE scratchbuilding things I just kinda imagine.
Hope you like them as much as I do,
--Ray

Had to try my luck at one of these.
Got the plan from Flite Test Site and gave it a shot.
Had one good flight with it so far and 2 crashes.
Did some tweakin and changed the control method so i should be able to handle it better now. I have it set up for V-Tail mix.

I have a little F22 also, but with a profile fuselage. With the prop blast close to the elevons, it will almost loop in its own length.:D

Gord.

My latest, a 34" twin based on some of the F3P planes I've flown over the years, asymmetrical thrust coupled to the rudder. Still need to add the speed controls and do the transmitter programming, hope to have it finished for the Horizon Indoor Fly In.
