Sounds like a blast. You're 223 miles North of me. I've penciled it in. Saw a pic of the DH-88 Comet above. I have one of these gems but broke the gear this weekend. What are your field conditions?

P.S. If you have a promo link I'll have our club post it and can help spread the word around to other clubs in the DFW area.

Do you get vendors showing up at the event? If so, how many?

I don't typically have any shows in September (still a little too warm in the AZ and CA desert areas) and maybe I can put the OK Dust Bowl on my annual event list.

1987tc 08-08-2012 09:11 PM

HOBBY King last year sent someone. And may or may not this year. I would love to have you show up!
We have encouraged vendors to attend. And have had one in the first and third year. ( different ones.
I hope you can make it Pat. And we have free high speed wifi at the event too.

1987tc 08-08-2012 09:16 PM

We have over 3,000 feet of pavement to fly from. As well as grass along side of that.
And of course the terminal building is open 24/7 and has air conditioning bathrooms and even showers for those who want to camp there, Camping is free.
We have a website HERE.
And we are also on facebook.

Here are the latest to arrive.

crxmanpat 08-09-2012 12:14 AM

Thanks Wes. I'll see if I can stick it on the calendar for next year!

1987tc 08-09-2012 12:53 AM

That would be great Pat. I know you would receive a warm welcome! And have a great time too!
Would also make a good way to debut a new model too....

Wes, it looks like your vendors are stepping up, and donating lots of nice stuff.
I'm still planning on coming, and right now it looks like I can, but I never know from one week to the next what's going to happen at work. I fell connected with this event, and don't want to miss a single year.
I did check out the above link to the Website, it's a broken link. It will get you there, but it takes an extra step. You might go to the site, and copy and paste the actual address.
Also you re-posted the event schedule from last year, You should probably wipe most of that out. It has all of the demos still on it.
From the feed back that I got from last year, most people did not like the formal schedule. They just wanted open flying, and if the air needed to be cleared for a war bird, 3D, or Heli demo, to just ask the pilots to clear the field for 15 minutes.
This would be easier any way than trying to follow a set schedule. just have 5 or 6 pilot stations, and if one is open you can fly.
I hope to see you there.

I just update the site and removed the part you mentioned.
We will just go with open flying and do as you suggested for any special needs.

My internet access has become extremely unreliable lately. So it is not easy to get things updated like they should be. That and I am not well. So that is getting in the way too.

Feel free to let me know about things I need to do. I am having trouble focusing and I miss things lately.

I do hope you can make it.

1987tc 08-09-2012 01:48 AM

I changed the link. It hopefully will work better now.

dahawk 08-09-2012 07:53 AM

I'm going to try to make it up there from DFW. Any motels in the area? I'm not much of a camper. The event will now be posted in our monthly newsletter coming out at the end of August and I'll talk it up at the field.

1987tc 08-09-2012 01:45 PM

Here is one that many have used in the past. Only a few minutes from the airport where the fly in takes place.

hoghead5150 08-11-2012 08:39 AM

mite try and make this event. is it ok to just come watch? my brother and i are still very new to flying so we wouldn't want to get in the way, or crash into something!! he has a super cub, i have an apprentice. would be a blast to at least come watch, and meet some people tho.

1987tc 08-11-2012 02:13 PM

I hope you do make it. And please bring your planes! We welcome all skill levels!
If you decide you don't want to fly no harm done. But if you do want to fly you will be ready. It would be a shame not to be able to fly because you didn;t bring anything.

The fly in is a very laid back low pressure event. We want everyone who comes to have a great time!

And we are going to again have some great raffle prizes to win. So bring money for raffle tickets!

1987tc 08-11-2012 02:16 PM

We are considering doing t shirts again this year. In much brighter colors. But with a change. Instead of multiple airplanes on the back just one big one.
Any suggestions as to what plane?

And if anyone has or can produce an image we use they will get a free shirt,
So express yourself!

1987tc 08-15-2012 05:16 PM

Attention sponsor and donors!!!
We are updating the banners we put up each year for the fly in. One of them we have made a practice of listing the sponsors on.
So if you are thinking of donating or sponsoring any part of the event please contact me! We want to put you on the banner. It is 4'X8' And makes a good backdrop for pictures!

In any group there are always those few......
In any group there are always those few people.... You know the ones.... Every group has them.....
The ones you can always count on to come through! ( not what you thought huh?)
With the fly in there has repeatedly been some of those.
crxmanpat who owns Nico Hobbies. Is one of them.
So is Buzz who skippers Buzz's Boatyard is another.
Hobby king has since last year been there for us too.
And some individuals too have been there when we needed them most. Like Larry ( Warningshot)
And Brett too. He has not been able to be involved this year but has been a HUGE help in past fly ins.

And not to forget the people who attend like Phil who bring some awesome models to fly ( and he donates too with nothing to gain but helping.)
And Ralph who along with Phil flies some great models.
And Tom too who comes and adds to the fun and has helped more then he knows.

There are a lot of others too. Both at the event and behind the scenes who make the event possible. And with out whom it would have never got off the ground. No matter what happens with this and future Dust Bowl Fly Ins. I want to say THANK YOU all very much for all you have done and do for the fly in.

I wish I could list everyone. But I can't. But I just want everyone to know that it means more then I can tell you to have you all part of this.
I am going to post this in each of the threads and on the website. I want to make sure everyone sees it.
