IIRC that flashing function came with the latest firmware update on the Spektrum receivers (v1.6, Jan 2008). This is the update that enabled the receivers to reconnect quickly if the voltage dips...

The slow flashing is the Spektrum receiver telling you it saw an undervoltage and reset at some point. Are you getting this after flight ? Or before ? Does it flash if you leave the tx off, connect...
