So, the answer to my question is actually: "Quality these days is so good I can choose either Spektrum TX"... or any other brand!
Think I'll go for the DX6i... fits best in my budget :-)

Had a 1/5 scale Piper Cub and that is about the size I have in mind. Thinking of starting with a 1/4 Belgian Stampe SV4. I have good childhood...

Erla 5A - 1/4 scale project

In between other projects, I started designing/building a rather unknown bird: the Erla 5A
Documentation is rare and only one slightly different Erla 5, a D-type, is still flying in Switzerland....

Back in the 70-ties I flew a Robbe Puma that had the same color scheme as a Wik Modelle Tiger I had too... That bird has flown - don't remember...

Going to try to build a rpm reduction that holds two of them motors. That should allow a +-15kg trainer configuration with a little security on the power side, shouldn't it?

if I have an electric motor setup on a test stand (brushless motor + propellor) that is capable of lifting 5 kgs, what would be an allowable aircraft model weight in the trainer...
