The two screws securing the boom seemed to me way too flimsy, and after the crash one was toast, so I removed the screws and replaced with a 9.5-12mm clamp from our local harware store. Not only does it hold the boom better, thus avoiding twisting, it also means you can move the boom further in, to fix the control rod length problem. Have tested it and it flys fine.

Terrific idea.... I also had the same situation with control rod lengths...
