Ok great! Thanks Wrench! I have the delta cut out but still have to soak it. I hope to get around to it tomorrow or Thursday. As mentioned I am building Chellie's delta model, but I have a question regarding the skid plate and vertical stab. is it just epoxied in? To me that just don't seem tough enough. One good flip over in the grass and it would seem like it would break off. Has anyone else built one? Did you use something down the side of the vertical stab to reenforce it? Thanks in advance!
Also mine was built with a stationary top horiz fin (think DC9 or 727 style) and even then it's been solid. I think my pics are back in the thread somewhere...lol.

Well I'll be a monkeys uncle!!!
I started building this a few days ago and was thinking... "cool... I'll be the first ever to make a Micro-Delta"... see what happens when you give a newb some foam sheets and cf glue!!!
I see now these things have been around for a while. I truly did design, cut out and start to build this before i ever saw this thread, So i hope to not only absorb and use info on here to better my build but maybe mine will inspire some new ideas in other as well.
Not finished yet... i actually got distracted building another 3d plane

Runs on 3S 2250Mah lipo 25 c and a 30 amps esc.
Unfortunately it crashes during a high speed test due to another faulty servo.

Runs on 3S 2250Mah lipo 25 c and a 30 amps esc.
Unfortunately it crashes during a high speed test due to another faulty servo.

wingspan is 16.5" tip to tip...
it's 11" long from front to back
I was planning to use ply wood for elevons w/12g metal gear servos
CF2812 motor 1600kv with a 7x6 prop
1300mAh 3S 30C battery
I don't forsee any problem with the extra weight... but i'm definantly gonna have to do a bright color scheme since at that size, i'm barely gonna be able to see it when it's bolting by!!!

try using the HXT 9 Gram servos, thats all I use, and they are just about bullet proof
i used them in a fun jet doing 103 MPH and they are inexpensive, Hope that helps, Chellie

Thanks for your advise. I do have the HXT 9 gram. However, they are not bullet proof either. I had issues with the HXT9 in the past because the, serration from the horn side appeared to be pretty badly molded hence allowing the horn to slip or have insufficient grip to the middle spindle gear. Every time I use the HXT 9 , I have to check for such a defect.
May want to consider investing on the metal gear servos in the future.

My question is: Are you using the 3/16" foam project board or something else? I've looked through the thread but haven't seen that. Is it the project board?

Thanks Chellie. I picked up the foam board and have drawn out the shapes. All of the electronics have shipped - thank you for the headsup on a good source...
I'm glad I checked in before cutting, I wouldn't have taped OR used the straight edge for the cut.

Well I am about finished with my delta. However I have ran into a problem. I thought that I was suppose to remove all the paper off so I did. I added the two dowel rods as well but now the motor and mount is to heavy and the nose just bends down. I am worried about adding more dowel rods due the weight. The plane looks great however it looks like it will break any minute.

It wasn't bad after the first crash (It had minor damage). So I decided to adjust the CGs and try again. It made a world of a difference. However, it only flew for about 45sec. It was very very touchy! I made a few passes with it but it was very sensitive. After about 45 secs of flying I started a banked turn and naturally it started to lose altitude because of the bank turn but even under full power it was unable to recover. Instead it went wide open nose down into the ground. Well I learned alot and only lost $3 so I don't feel to bad. I actually made something fly although for less than a minute. I did learn to stick with a traditional style aircraft for my first build. So I am thinking of creating a Super Cub design for my next build (modeled after my HZ SuperCub). I would like to make it maybe a little smaller so it can be more lighter and handle more load. I would like to be able to put some big tires on there for grass landings and takeoffs as well as a place for a camera. So any motor suggestion? Main thing is torque. The batteries I plan on using are 3s 1000-2500mAH.

Thanks Chellie. I have flown the Stryker before which is a delta and could fly that good. But this one was really sensitive unlike my last Stryker I had. I think on my second flight I had the CGs closer to the correct spot but still off. I will try again but will stick with the traditional style next time. Until I master that I will stick with that (at least for now
)

After taking the summer off from flying I'm back in - got the work bench cleared back off and painted my foam. Did my first soldering last night with a borrowed iron and got the plugs (connectors?) attached to my motor. Hooked up the motor, esc, and battery without setting anything on fire and then bound it to my DX7. I forgot to take pictures, will do so this evening.
I am planning to attach everything with velcro (except the motor) so I can adjust the CG without too much trouble. Does that make sense or are my electronics and battery going to go flying? I mean off the plane when I crash, not when I'm actually airborne.
