Default bad motor out of the box??

Hey all,

Just picked up my CX2 a few days ago. Flys pretty nice with one exception. I can not keep the tail from drifting right. I have adjusted the pot on the 3in1 and that seemed to help some but I still need to really lay in the trim to get it to fly straight. Also there is almost no way to spin left. It will spin right like crazy but just lumbers left.

Is there a chance I have a bad motor from the factory??

Welcome to WF drtnsnw. I have a CX2, and they do turn one way faster than the other. Something to do with the different masses and/ or aerodynamics of the upper and lower rotors, I think. But if your's will hardly turn one way, that doesn't sound right.

I'd check for binding in one of the rotors. Also, it's a stretch, but make sure the motor connections are secure at the 3-in-1.

Stupid question, but it needs to be asked: was it like this out of the box, or were there some 'incidents' along the way? Of course there might have been some defect from the factory. Rare, but possible. If that's the case you may be best off getting it back to who you got it from with a clear description of the problem, and that it was that way WITHOUT crashing. I don't know how familiar you are with the RC hobby, but I think I've seen it's way too common for someone to wreck something and try to return it...

So where did you find a CX2 anyways? I thought they moved onto the CX3 for a few years now.

With this heli, it will drift one direction as the battery voltage drops.
I don't remember which way but I guess it would become obvious.
What you need to do is use trim as the battery wears down to keep it
heading straight. You start with the trim pot oll the way over to one side
and as the pack wears down, you end up with the trim all the other way.
You can use the adjustment on the 3 in 1 too to help with this but it is
rather normal for a CX2

Helicopters don't really fly.......
They're just so ugly, that the earth repels them.

Default Re: bad motor out of the box??

LHS ordered it from horizon. He said he liked the way the 2 flew over the 3.

It sounds like what I may be seeing is normal. It has not been wrecked just a couple of harder landings but nothing that would even break a skid. Just thought it was crazy it will spin like a bat out of he'll one way but not the other.
I am thinking of just biting the bullet on the boomtown hobbies hop up kit.
