Default How to compare motors?

I have a couple of KDA A22-10S motors (http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...utrunner_Motor)

Using them on GWS Formosa and Zero. Seems to work ok, I like the included solid bolt on prop adapter instead of using a collet mount.

With a 3S 1250 battery and 8x6 prop its pulling 15-16 amps.

What motor would compare in an E-Flite? What is the best way to rate the power of a motor, wattage?

That would be similar in power and size to a Park 400 from E-F. Perhaps not quite as much power.

Watts is a good yardstick to use as a guide.

I too like the bolt on adapters over collets.

Yeah, the 920Kv Park 400.

AXi used to be the motor everybody used for comparison. Just an FYI... The Park 400 920 is identical to the AXi 2212-26.

Yeap. I use this chart as an off-hand rough reference - always keeping in mind that once you get out of direct comparison to comparison once-removed, things can change quite a bit.

Often I pick a motor this way and then run it through a couple of google searches to find threads on RCG or here where people mention it and how they apply it.

You'll find that most outrunners today are very close copies of the AXI and/or Eflite motors, at least on paper.

On paper is where it's important. Similar diameters, lengths, weights, and Kv ratings pretty much ensures that two motors will behave similarly, and will withstand the same level of power.

Both AXI and Eflite have tons of information on their websites about what planes will work with what motors. Heck, Eflite has it written right on the motor itself (e.g. Power 46). Maybe you don't have the budget for an AXi or Eflite, or just want to try a new brand... Take their info and use it to find if a motor you're looking at will be a good match.
