Default HobbyZone Champ floats.

As spring approaches, I am getting ready to try out our new inflatable kayak as the "mother-boat" for our floatplanes.
First we have a set of floats for my Champ. I have flown it once before with these floats, but now I have added water rudders, so we'll see how that goes

It may just be the picture, but th floats seem to be mounted a little too far aft. Put the step under a point at 40% of the wing chord. or about 1/2"-3/4" behind the balance point if that's easier to locate. Also make sure the plane balances as per the instructions: Usually: on the spar.

Default Thanks, Jim;

I built them from these plans. Just starting another pair, for the wife's Playmate.

Default ROW with water rudders?

Lancer, were you ever able to lift off with your water rudders?

Thanks!

Dick

Default Champ on floats

Hello, Dick;
Little Champ flew great with the setup in the picture. We haven't flown in quite awhile, but it's still ready to go. (On calm days, of course).

Default Congrats!

Good to hear! I was able to successfully ROW when I put a single water rudder on mine, after upgrading to the 23mm can motor, but not consistently. Have now upgraded to the Nano brushless motor and the AR6400 brick, but have not yet flown it off the water.

Did you ever shoot a video?

Dick
