I was thinking of adding some night lights to my Radian Glider

Talking I was thinking of adding some night lights to my Radian Glider

I have not done much night flying but was thinking of giving it a try. My Radian might be the best choice as it is slow and stable and quiet.

What kind of lights would you recommend?

I use the LED strips, cut to length solder them together and go fly, super simple.

Pick a color scheme you think you might like that would help with orientation. I fly a wing fairly quickly and having orientation colors really helps. On something like a Radian you could probably just go all one color as long as you define the plane to help with direction.

On this one I cut slots into the wing and embed the lights inside, I have seen on radians where they are just stuck on the outside of the foam also.

When the night flying bug bit me, I picked up the HK Night Walrus that was on sale. Flies & glides great, & w/2200mah batts, I get 15-17min w/lights OFF, & 12-15min w/lights ON. Those times are mixed power on/off. It really shows up well in the dark & orientation is good. It's best to start at dusk before venturing into flight in complete darkness. Try it....you'll like it. Pic attached....

Yes it is fun and not as hard as you might think. As yorkiepap says, start early in the evening and just keep on flying. White strips under the wings totally light up the ground when landing and also blinds everyone else. Good fun.

I actually find night flying easier, and more relaxing as the only thing I can see is my plane, no distractions.

The ground does seem a lot closer to the air at night though and some lights on the bottom as Panther describe can help find it quicker.

Some of the most fun I have ever had has been night flying. My wing is the first one you see in this video before we launch.
