Default The "Money Shot"

Hmm.....

Hobby King has a new 3D ship.

Innuendo loaded.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...350mm_ARF.html

If anyone gets one, please share with us how it arrived. Knowing how foam planes often arrive with a dink/bend/defect, I'm real interested in seeing if this makes it home in good shape.

Looks nice, but...

1) Not sure why I wouldn't just go for the famous (albeit slightly smaller) 48" "1.5 Buck Huck" Edge 540 from 3DHS that costs only $50 more (which isn't a lot when you consider that the airframe is one of the smallest costs for a plane like this) With 3DHS, I know it's going to be awesome and I know I can count on the vendor if something goes wrong. And most importantly...
2) I don't know if I'd dare show up at the field with a plane called "The Money Shot".

EDIT: LOL! Someone at HobbyKing has a sense of humor:

"Please note: Smutty Innuendo at the flying field is purely optional, as are the supplied decals."

And the logo is on this.... well..... sploosh of a background?

Thank goodness this is the Wikipedia definition:

A money shot is a moving or stationary visual element of a film, video, television broadcast, print publication, etc., that is disproportionately expensive to produce and/or is perceived as essential to the overall importance or revenue-generating potential of the work.

LOL

The build quality is excellent and despite having plenty of wood, the Moneyshot is ultra light. The covering is excellent as is the supplied hardware, which is more than up to the job of handling extreme 3D Maneuovers. The cowl and spats are glassfiber with an excellent finish and the model comes supplied with the correct size spinner. The Moneyshot is as practical as you would expect and features plug in wings and a large canopy which is secured by a proper latch. With this level of pre-fabrication, from a build point of view, the Moneyshot allows you to get it off pretty quickly.

This model is a looker for sure but performance is really what the Moneyshot is about, its pretty big but the combination of the ultra-thick wing and very low wingloading will allow the 3D pilot to let it all hang out in the tightest of spaces. The huge control surfaces will allow you to explore the wildest of aerobatic maneuovers, and with the right set up, the Moneyshot will keep the hardened 3D pilot grinning all day long!

What about "let it all hang out in the tightest of spaces"? Geeez, this is so juvenile! Now I HAVE to have one!

The girth of the wing root..

I dont know if I could fly it with a straight face...

I'm laughing now, and trying not to leave any more puns dangling.

Ok. I broke down and ordered one. Once it comes (oops, sorry) to my house and I get it up (darn, not again) in the air, I'll post a quickie (help I can't stop) review.

Yeah, but I better stop before the moderators yell at me. But I actually *did* order one. It looks pretty cool, so why not? If it doesn't work out I'll rip the electronics out and get a "1.5 Buck Huck" instead. Sometimes in life you have to take a chance!

EDIT: And it looks like I got the last one. They sold out pretty quick...

NJS, no heat from the mod squad, so far, we are all way left of the line.

I'm glad you tossed off the funds to get it.

Please keep us posted as to its arrival, quality, build and flight.

Gaaaaaahhh!!! I should have known better! There was one left when I ordered it, but now my order shows it as being on back order. I guess I won't "get it off" this season...

NJSwede

Don't get too discouraged, HK will fill all back orders before they will list an item as being in stock.

I have purposely ordered items that were out of stock, knowing I will be one of the orders that they will have to fill next, I received my order before they ever showed in stock.

I just checked the Moneyshot and it only shows -2 so there are only two on back order one of them must be yours. Too bad it is not a USA item.

I live less than 25 mile from the HK USA warehouse, I receive in-stock orders in less than 48 hours, I love it, I just wish they stocked more of the smaller hardware and similar things in the USA.

Yay! They're already back in stock! I'm really looking forward to this one. Yes, I'm aware there's a huge risk it's going to be horrible, but it's fun to take a chance. Plus, it looks really cool...

If they bring this one to the USA warehouse i'll buy it. Right size, right style for me. However $99.00 + $95.00 shipping puts the E-flite Eradix 3d (which this is a clone of) is cheaper.

$95 shipping? It cost $30 to ship this one, plus motor, servos and ESC to NJ. Air mail! Not kidding!

BTW... The thread on this plane on that other site is extremely entertaining with a bunch of "experts" completely trashing the plane, obviously without ever having flown or even seen it IRL... I'm going to try to keep myself from commenting.

Haters gonna hate. People are like that. If it's not a PA, 3DHS etc... it's not worth flying to them.

Will have to look again at shipping. but I swore it only have a $95.00 option.

Yeah I looked at the other site. without knowing anything about the plane it has apparently been "concluded" that this plane won't even hold a candle to a PA Addiction X.

I'm in the market for another plane this big, but i'm not freaking rich and I cannot afford $240 + shipping on the airframe alone (PA Addiction X). The Addiction X pro pack is $580.00. I can't understand where these top quality companies PA / Extreme flight and justify their prices. At least 3dhs has the buck huck and it's other planes come with wing bags etc.

AHH, there is a $36.00 shipping for EMS express.

also anybody notice the product code: FURY-3d-arf the innuendo goes all the way down.

Crash, you didn't get this choice?

Maybe I picked something that will take a year to arrive. Oh well, excitement is one of the reasons you deal with HK, isn't it?

I will no longer use air parcel as every package i've shipped that way the box has been beat to a bloody pulp and it has NO INSURANCE. EMS has an automatic $100.00 insurance on it since it's usps express mail. i think Air parcel was $29.00 for me.

If there's a plane that can take hardcore abuse, it would be the Money Shot.

Sorry, I had to.
