Default Trying to liven things up !! What discontinued model would you like to see back ?

Many of us have grown up through evolution of the RC world ... and can remember exceptional models that hold special place in each individuals hearts.

I find it sad actually that many of them just stop and fade ... no-one picks up the design to resurrect.

I have a series of models that I hold dear in memory but try as I might can never get another ... I am sure some UK guy has one or two secreted away in their 'dungeons' ...

Rojair Models

I had their Spitfire 24 and FW190 ... both brilliant flyers and the build format was a winner. Foam veneered wings, built up fuselage with foam veneered topdecks to give the shape. Glow 20 power but with an Enya or similar cooking 35 - were superb.

Even the plans are hard to find - the Hippocket and other online sites have bad thumbnails only ... that cannot be blown up to size.

Other classics from my UK days ... PANIC Biplane ... the name PANIC is so correct !!

Phil Ramsay Mini Pitts - possibly the best Pitts model ever ...

Pilot Models EZ series ...

Pilot Models Nieuport 28 - an absolute cow on the ground with that short nose moment - but a beaut in the air.

Pilot Models Zlin Akrobat - another masterpiece ...

So many ... so Guys and Gals ... what about yours ...

I know the above are from the Fuel days ... but all could be easily Electrified if available today.

Even though I never flew pattern, or even fixed wing: Hanno Prettner's Curare, 20/40/60.

Kitted by Pilot back then???

The Curare .... marvelous machine ... designed by Hanno and Father team.

Hippocket and various have the full plans ....

One of our club members has built one and flies it occasionally.

Wonder if the UHU is still out there. It was the plane I banged up a lot learning how to fly. The EPP Push-E-Cat is what really got me in the air.

Take care and thanks for posting at WattFlyer!!

I always wanted a Midwest StrikeMaster or Airtronics Jetfire. No idea why I didn't buy them when still available. As luck would have it I'll be building a prototype short kit cut of the Jetfire redrawn and cut by a very well known RC Groups member. The kit should be here next week. Can't wait! Then I'll get hot on finding a StrikeMaster kit or short kit.

I have to say that I am planning on adding a larger Laser bed machine to my new workshop. There are so many classic models I would like to create from plans.

The models that had foam veneered parts ... I have an auto foam cutter bed to setup as well.

If I can get a plan ... then worlds my oyster !

For those where shipping and costs are acceptable .. I will offer to others.

I would like to see the Pica line revived. They sure had some pretty stuff.

Still have the YMF-5 Waco. Would like to build a duelist.

Here are plans for the Strikemaster, I built one from plans before I could get a kit. Great flying plane, but I carved the fuse down too far and a hard landing broke it off. Totally my fault, if I had glassed the fuse it would be okay. I will fix it some day.

I wish the Norm Page Mach 1, was available, I have a kit and I have a friend that keeps trying to buy it from me.

I know there are some different versions of it around, but they are not what he wants.

I've had the plan file for a while and I know someone drew up plans for a built up wing. I may have it on one of the hard drives. If all else fails the short kit is available here. LINK I cringe when I look at the price though. The wing at $35.00 is doable but look at the .pdf of the short kit parts. $80.00 for THAT?!! No way in hell. I'll cut the parts myself.......

I think with the advent of Foam models ... the urge to cut and build as traditional is only with old die-hard farts like me.
And I have to admit that often - I look at the harder parts such as the cowls to make and it puts me off building.

Like many others - I have married the two conventions. Wood formers, and foam sheet. Even to rebuilding wings etc. with foam ribs backing up the shattered balsa ones.

Anyway ... hopefully it will not be too long before I get into my new workshop and start putting together some of the old classics.
