Default I thought it was a controlled live fire.

I'm guessing that it's either a PR or R&D photo just because of how sterile the background is and how the camera settings seem to be perfect.

I got the picture from the AirForce website. They have different galleries representing firepower and people over the years. Here's the page where I got this pic.

Seems to me that they take the shot during a night weapons alignment test, then airbrush out any background; I read that explanation, regarding a similar photo of a P39...
