Ok, here's the scoop, I am on gen 3 of my vette...lol. I am calling this my test vette, it will be the first to fly. I will refine it a bit more but not much more, I personally am expecting to crash a few times. Anyway, camera ran out of batteries before I could take pictures of generations 1 and 2, they look way cooler, well maybe not gen 1 but definitely gen 2. I actually like this one, it took me all of 1 minutes to cut out. More updates when I can.

Eric, get that Romulan Warbird flying I am anxious to see some video of that, its looking great.

maidened my 48" wing today. bad idea, wind slapped it out of the air like a gnat, fixable, motor mount broke off, trashed the esc when the motor ejected, remarkable that it didn't disintegrate as it is only FFF with balsa stiffeners at LE.

Oh yeah Eric, lots of sanding to go. Being the 3rd generation it will be my third one built, my hands have had a work-out...lol I think I am getting a bit too nit picky about how this thing should look to me. Most of my problem has been working with foam, a new medium for this "artist" I am sculpting this shape out of something I have never touched before, at least not like this. My motor should be here soon and that will really determine how the rear section will look.

Sorry about the crash, but I know you'll be back in the air in no time.

Alex,

Thanks, what else would you like to know. It will handle winds up to
15 mph. or so. It has elevon controls, (3/8" up & down) I extended the
nose (as shown on the drawings) I helps a lot at slow speeds when the
nose is up high, kind of acts like a vertical fin to help keep it on track at
slower speeds. I have annother one that I added some trim to help dress
it up a bit. It was one of my first flat foam scratch builds, I never much
worked with it befor, but it worked out great, easy to work with, sands
pretty well, I used 80 gritt to rough it out then finnish it up with 180 or
220 grit, Testors spray enamel sticks pretty good too. The flat foam
worked so well that I wanted to build something else a bit bigger, and of
corse more power ( as in a brushless outrunner, and pusher prop) Here is
some pictures of a couple of other flat foam aircraft I built.

Thanks
Ralph V.

Thanks, You may have just motivated me to try making my own flat-foam design. Yours looks awesome, its like the plane in the last MA mag (forgot name of it) that I was interested in. I was gonna ask for stuff like wingspan and stuff, but I think Ill just have to make my own.

Thanks for the motivation,
Alex

(PS, where can I get the foam?)

Alex,

Go to page 3 , post 67. here you will find my drawings with the
dimentions. You can print out the drawing, it should come out half
size. all the sizes are on the drawings, and it's all made of 6mm flat
foam, I got the foam from BP hobbies. Hope this helps.

Thanks
Ralph V

Hey folks,
We'll, were back from our long weekend. We had a good time..
I started on my delta, Similer to what I have seen pictures of. Kinda plain..
Its all cut out and glued together (last night). I will do some re-enforcing of the joints because I did just use the contact cement that the hobby shop guy had suggested. I just don't think it will be strong enough.(Chellie has suggested 5 min epoxy, I will get some soon.) I have been taking pictures to show you guys but I'm not going to bring the film to Walgreens until tomorrow. so I won't get the pictures for a couple of days. By the way, It is really an UGLY looking delta. I admit, I'm not looking for pretty my first time, I just want it to fly.....
I have had my share of difficulty trying to make the packing tape hinges work well. On this prototype I guess they will work well enough. I'll keep you posted.....get it?HaHa

Good luck with the maiden Bruce. The best advise given to me when I built my first was, to relax it's just foam.

I got the design [- airfoil] from a thread on RCgroups[ "Manta...ufo's over south park"]also had some new foam to try out so I made my rendition of it.Hope it flies as well as the one in video.
