Default AMA Membership Question

I was on the AMA's website and noticed when I went to request membership that question 5 was about Membership sponsor information.

5.) Membership sponsor information

Name AMA Number
Well I don't know anybody around here that is a member of the AMA...hmmm oh well.

You do not need a sponsor. That spot is just in case you want to list someone to give them credit for getting you to join.

you can just leave it blank. Or put my number if you want!

Yep, we all have AMA numbers and no money. Lots of free advice though.

There is not such thing as extra money anymore. Now I think "if I don't eat today or tomorrow I could get that ______ a week sooner."

I'm surprised nobody's commented on it yet, but there is a reason why they ask for that information. The AMA has a deal called the Ambassador Program. The deal is, if you get 3 people to sign up with the AMA, and they put you down as the sponsor, you get a year's free membership.

Something to think about.

BTW mteeb, feel free to use my name and number! :p

That sweetens the pot doesn't it.
I'm sure my sponser will be a wattflyer flyer.

On a side note. Can I use the free buddy box you get with a new membership with a simulator? I've got a JR jack to usb cable (got it for my Parkzone Stryker TX, but where it's made for the stryker I can't fly regular planes with it (delta mixing maybe...I don't know) but it works nice with a styker model I downloaded.

One of our new flyers signed up for AMA more than 2 months ago. He still has not received his buddy box, and is now proficient enough not to need one. Three months for shipping is a little extreme.

Don't know if it's interfacable with a PC.

If you pay $7.95 for shipping you can choose between 2 buddy boxes. Apparently they aren't too swift in sending them out though. I'll cross my fingers and hope that they send mine the day I sign up (have to wait until this paycheck clears...orders of the boss).

Here's the link with the full details of the Buddy Box program:

http://www.modelaircraft.org/promos/1/default.aspx

Note two things:

1. This program ends on 4/30/07 (Monday).

2. You pay $7.95 for shipping & handling, and it says allow 8-12 weeks for delivery.

(Oh, and don't forget, put my name and AMA number on your application as your sponsor. )

If you want to know why so many want you to list their AMA number as a sponsor, it is so that if enough people list them they get a reduction on their membership renewal. But, it is only one number person per new membership. I have five grand children that have been signed up as AMA members. DOC Holliday

DOC,

Yes, it's called the Ambassador Program. If you get 3 new AMA members to list you as their sponsor, you get a free year's membership. I recently received my 2008 AMA Card as 3 folks listed me as their Sponsor a few months ago.
