Default Need me a sponsor!

Ok, I am getting good with my t-rex 450's. Great hovering at three points, still kinda shakey at nose in (unless I am about 30 feet up). Fast forward flight is going great (still no 3D). I also have built a great planes Flatana (I can use my blade cp batteries in it)but have not flown it. Finally worked up the nerve (skills, i think)to head out to the local forest preserve flying field. It was empty at 28 degres F. It is posted that pilots must have AMA membership.

I will be happy to join as an open member and would like to know who would like me to use them as a sponsor. First come first serve! Maybee score ya a free year! Thanks, Rob

Yes, Very good thing going here! I recommend this site to all the people who buy my used or outgrown stuff on e-bay. There is a descent sized club that uses the field a few miles from my house. Mostly nitro planes. One heli pad but I have not seen any out there. I think once they see the electric heli's, it might start a whole new thing!

If three people list you as a sponsor when they initially join the AMA your dues get paid for the following year!

FYI both name and AMA number are required to list a referral.

And it works too! (BTW, it's called the Ambassador Program if you go to the AMA website). 2008 was free to me thanks to some kind souls here on WF.

I was hoping to get the elusive member # 1000000, but if you just received 900xxx, then I tried joining a little too soon.

Interestingly enough, 1/29 is my birthday! Sometimes the stars just line up.

If I only fly foamies at the moment and my planes are almost all the time under 2 pounds, Should I get the basic Park Flyer Lic. or the 58 dollar one?

I guess if I plan on making or buying anything that's big over two pounds within the year I'd be better off getting the 58 dollar one.. right?

Remember that there is also a speed limitation on the Park Pilot membership. There are lots of small wings that will exceed the speed limitation of 60 mph. I believe that you can upgrade your membership at any time if you move beyond the limits of the Park Pilot.

If you are just flying for fun and don't plan to enter any AMA sanctioned contests and stay under the limits, I would just get the Park Pilot membership.

Agreed. If you think you won't be flying anything over 2 lbs or 60mph anytime through the end of next year, get the Park Pilot membership. I think if you wait until October, your dues will cover you all the way through 2010.

And if you do decide to move up before the end of next year, all you have to do is pay the difference to get the full membership. Quite a bargain if you ask me.

Ok, I have taken the plunge.

1 minute 33 seconds ago I pressed the Pay option on Paypal and I now have applied and payed for my AMA Lic.

I went ahead and got the regular 58.00 version with another copy of Model Aircraft News Magazine that I will be giving as a present to my Nephew who last Sunday flew his first RC plane at Texas Shoot Out.. He's our newest member of our fraternity of RC enthusiast..

Now, I will be able to use the Public facility at Tom Bass Park and fly when ever I want. better than joining a club at the moment..
