No it is not electric but the design is certainly advanced for 1928.

This model was found on youtube. If you doubt just search youtube for

That flying wing photo looks like it's from the fifties or even sixties. Such a design could not have been concieved in the twenties!

I've seen that before but I can't remember the year it's supposed to be.
I think the clothes would really give it away (:

I can't see the photo clearly right now.

It certainly IS a cool design.

Cool video too. Several of the guys flying the rubber powered planes actually had some style of uniform on.

Hi Wattflyer's. If you look back before WW2 the the DFS were building swept wing glider's with propeller and rocket power. Germany was not allowed an airforce .They built model's and from their model's they built full size glider's.

Looks like one of the Horten designs of flying wings. As they, (Horten brothers), were designing and building full size flying wings in the 30's, it could be an early model design. So I would say it could have been in the late 20's.

Here's a Wiki link to one of their designs and a brief history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horten_Ho_229

Around that time period Waldo Waterman was building innovative designs too.

In 1929 Waterman built the first tailless monoplane. With the tailless Whatsit he also introduced modern tricycle landing gear. Some consider the Whatsit to be the first flying wing. It was certainly a step in the development of the flying wing but had a truncated fuselage. It was usually, more correctly, called a tailless airplane. A development of the Whatsit was the high-wing Aeroplane.

The Whatsit evoved into the first radable airplane, the first fling car.
