Dang, it's been a long time since we got together and had a excellent afternoon of flying. Nick, Dave, Donnie and I spend a few hours out at the sod farm today. Dave had several planes that he maidened, I flew some planes I bought off of Nick, and Donnie flew a micro P-51 that I brought. I forgot my camera and hope that Dave or Nick has time to post some photos.

Glad you guy's got to take advantage of the weather yesterday, Don. It was beautiful day, but I had family stuff.

Cheers, Bill

Yeah Bill, it was a fantastic day. Nick and Dave hung out there on Saturday while I was doing honeydoos but we got together Sunday afternoon for the stick time.

It was a great day indeed and I enjoyed every minute of it! Low 70's, lotsa' sun and virtually no wind! It was really good to see Donnie out again too!

Apologies to the group as I forgot my camera also. I did snap some pictures with Nick's Super Fuji-tastic!

Plans are in place for this Saturday! Who's in???

Would love to get back over there and fly with you guys. Daughter getting married this Saturday, so I'll be busy. Maybe good weather and good schedule will work out sometime this year tho.

Cheers, Bill

Working on the pics right now. New computer isn't being cooperative about a few things.

I have to work this weekend, so no flying for me. Hopefully next weekend weather will be decent.

Don't know about those guys Bill, they were hanging out in the van when I got there. Or was Nick in the van and Dave in a chair??

Dave maidened several planes that day. They all flew great until Donnie got a hold of one...

Can I presume that the Stinson is a plane you guys are satisfied with?

It was a surprise to me. From a distance I couldn't tell it was EPP and thought it was film covered. As I got within a few feet I thought there was something wrong with the covering job. Dave had zero problems with the maiden, the takeoff and landing were very smooth.

It's on my list of planes I must have. After the Christmas craze maybe. Also I've been funding my FPV addiction lately.

Looks to me, the only thing you're missing is the bbq grill to make it a perfect day at the field.

That's a great idea! The peanut butter crackers are getting a little stale ... Did I say that?

The Stinson is a good "cruiser" plane. Very Cub like. It's easy to fly. It sort of just levitates off the ground on take off. Mine does have a tendency to "trim shift" with the power setting. I trimmed mine for straight and level flight at cruise speed. It goes up with increased power, it descends with lower power. Nothing radical or surprising. It also came with a ton of aileron differential and if flown with ailerons and elevator only, it probably needs a bit more, again, nothing radical or surprising. It really shines with rudder use and opposite aileron in the turns! It skids around very nicely and looks good doing it!

The only things about the plane that concern me are that the elevator counterbalances are a bit flimsy and look like they wont put up with a lot of handling abuse or hangar bumps. They're fine in flight. The battery compartment is extremely deep and hard to get chubby little fingers into. At Nick's suggestion, I'm going to make a foam spacer to bring the battery closer to the hatch. The ESC to battery power lead is somewhat short and either needs the ESC relocated or the wires extended. I have no other issues with the plane. It's a keeper! The next time we all get together, I'll get the crew to take a round with it so they can give you their impressions of it too.

Dave

Skidding something since 1975...

Fondling? You bet! Inserting? Yes sir! I don't quite think the Freud Dude has too much to do with it though. They guys are either (A) somewhat embarrassed and envious of my impressive size and ability, or, (B) they are laughing at me behind my back because the previous statement is not entirely accurate. Most likely B is the real reason.

Congratulations on the wedding!

Shame on you! Donnie didn't do anything I didn't expect to do myself. He was just the lucky guy that was on the sticks when it happened. No problem here. It's already on it's wheels again waiting on the next flight.

Hey! No mention of me turning my XPD8 into rubble? I had to crash it four times, , until I got it right! It never got more than fifty feet away too so we didn't have to walk that far either! I was kinda' proud of that...

Throttle up, throw, rolls right and plop. Throttle up, add left ailevator, throw, rolls right and plop. Throttle up, add more left ailevator, rolls right and plop. Throttle up, add full high rate left ailevator, throw, rolls left, correct right too far, re-correct left too far, re-re-correct right too far, not enough elevator authority and plop. Two large pieces and a bunch of bits. ! It will be reborn into a nice L39 soon...

Dave

Ive never seen an Extra with retracts before...

A bit on the cold side today but we got some nice flying in. Dave and Nick both took a spin on the 2nd Valk that I picked up called Valk Deux.

We had a great time Bill, I thought about giving you a ring but with Saturdays weather I wasn't sure if Sunday was going to be a washout.

Another beautiful day here in West Tennessee and we got a bit of stick time in this afternoon. I took a Hobby Lobby Micro Spitfire with the outdoor prop out today and flew it a couple of times. Nick had two more planes he maidened, one was a micro Albatross and the other was a EPP hotliner from Tower hobbies. Both his new planes flew well.

Dave just hung around and took pictures!

Nick let me fly the Blaze for a git and it was surprisingly a nice plane to fly. I even hit a thermal with the thing.
