Default Replacement ESC for HZ SuperCub

I am in the process of changing my HZ SuperCub over to new electronics including the DX6i. Any recommendations for a cheap ESC to run 3S lipo on with the stock brushed motor? Anyone have anything that they want to part with?

I've been using the 30amp Turnigy with the stock motor for nearly a year with good results but they are out of stock right now.

Castle Creations used to offer some pricey but good quality brushed ESC's but all but a 7 amp have been discontinued.

I found a couple with google.

Hobbico 25 Amp http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSSH5&P=FR

E-Flite has several http://www.e-fliterc.com/PowerSystems/SpeedControllers/

You can get E-Flite through Horizon Hobby

ElectriFly has one too. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKBF4&P=ML

This is what I use in my SuperCub with a stock motor, 1300mah 3S lipo, and an AR500 rx. I'm using a couple of Hitec HS55 servos.

Brushed ESC's are becoming more rare everyday.

That Blue Arrow Gohmer linked to has one of the better LVC's (3v/cell) that I have seen on any of them. If you can find one, go for it.

Or you might seriously consider going brushless altogether....

The hard part is fabricating a motor mount. You can buy retrofit mounts now, but they don't come cheap. HeadsUPRC has one:

It appears to be the CustomRC CNC'd aluminum mount:

There are 2 nasty shortcomings to most brushed ESC > the LVC is often permanently set to NiMh and destructively low, and the BEC is usually only 1A or less.
Be sure to read and understand the specs. No specs - don't buy.

If you upgrade the Cub to ailerons and put 4 servos in there you may be creating a recipe for BEC failure, especially with amp hungry servos (HXT 900) and Spectrum (brown out).
