Default Appropriate ballast for balancing plane?

Been searching for this answer for a bit and am curious what is considered the "correct" ballast for balancing a foam flier, or really any models when balancing down the centerline.

I have been using 7g lead weight (1/4 oz stick on wheel weight) that are left over from other projects and seem to work fine. It works just fine, and I shrink wrap them in black so they look alright .... but if there is a cleaner solution I am open to learning something new.

What do you guys use?

I have used lead weight strips used for golf clubs. Each strip is 1oz, and has sticky tape on the back. They also bend some, so they can be formed to a degree to fit curves and all.

I found mine on clearance at Walmart in the sporting good section after the golf season was over for my area.

I've used spare change, nuts, screws, washers, and lead sold in hobby shops all with good effect.

I'm rather fond of depleted uranium, but sometimes it's a bit tough to find at retail.

Just kidding! Anything heavy works just fine.

Fishing weights work great, and mag type wheel weights with the glue on them, washers, work fine too, Take care, Chellie
