What's your newest Plane?

Finally adding a Yak to the fleet.
ExtremeFlight Yak 54 EXP. 48"
Not the largest planes but can be set up without breaking the bank, and they sure are a lot of fun. A friend owns one and calls it a bit "squirrely" but that can be fun too.

As J Powers seems to be out of the model aviation business I just could not pass up a deal I saw on Banggood for the 620mm Rare Bear. This will be my third. On 4S, it's literally a pocket rocket. Lots of fun. And with the coupon code, was only $79.00 shipped. Why not?

Just finished up this project. The "RCM Advanced Trainer II" is closely based on the plans available from Outerzone. Originally designed for a .46 glow engine, my version has been modified for electric power, via a Power Up 46 brushless connected to a 5s, 4200mah 50C lipo through a 80 amp ESC. Swings a 12 X 6e prop. I also modified the wing mounting by incorporating the upper cabin section of the fuselage as part of the wing. A small change in the wingtips stretches the span to 57.5" Although not on the original, flaps have been added. A Mobius video camera is slung on a standoff mount on the lower fuselage, between the LG struts.
Maiden flight will have to wait until a new velcro battery strap arrives. The one I thought I could use won't fit around the battery.

Salvaged the components from an EF Edge 540. Was an amazing plane but wanted some variety.
Motrolfly 2820-950kv Replacing all 5 (yes five!) bearings $4.95. VERY nice motors. 4cell LiPo swinging a Xoar 13x4PJN. The prop rips with this setup and has an insane amount of pullout authority.
Second Edit: Hot glued some blucor foam baffles to the front of the motor box. Maybe .5oz max. This brings the battery (2650mAh 4S) to the main spar after in-flight balancing.
ZTW 85amp and Castle BEC.
4x KST DS215MG V3 servos at max voltage.
Lemon 7ch 3axis stabilizer receiver & satellite.
Dubro Nylon hinges and 2.5" Sport wheels for grass field.
Plenty of carbon fiber longerons and large G10 landing gear plate.
45.4 ounces without battery.
Maiden when weather permits...

Just getting everything back in order after a bad 2.5 yrs of not being able to fly. This isn't new but I did redo everything because in the moves most of my planes got damaged. My grandfather before he passed was making super flys out of floor foam and was having a ball so I decided that's a good place to start again while I get the rest of the fleet flight ready. Looking to get this airborne ASAP!
Cc 40amp esc
Super Tigre .10 motor

Ar6000 receiver
10x6 master airscrew prop

I picked up a never flown Starmax 70mm F5E from a buddy for cheap. Its EPS foam, so light but brittle. Comes with servo assisted retracts, Kind of funky and they were an engineering marvel at the time. A servo pushes and pulls a rod tied in with the plastic linkage. The steering servo is actually mounted on the nose wheel strut. These will most probably be one and done on our grass field. This plane was introduced 9 years ago.
Swapped out the power system with a Dr. Mad Thrust 1900kv 11 blade and a CC 80 amp esc. Small battery compartment that I modded so I could fit a 6S 2700mah 35 RT. Ran it up on a wattmeter and she produced an initial 1300 watts then dropped down to ~1,135 watts steady. Should be plenty of power. This 1900 kv motor wants power.
She's ready to fly but I have grave concerns about the Castle Creations 80 amp esc. It gets very hot and it's exposed to the air on the undercarriage. I mean it gets hot just running her up on the bench. I'll re bind setting up fail safe where she gently falls out of the sky- LOL Slight up elevator

Hi Hawk, just curious, what C rating is the 6cell battery. pulling 1100 watts out of a 2700mah pack won't make for a long flight. what was the amp draw on the bench test? will 80amp be enough? castle esc's are meant to be used in confined spaces where other esc's would fail for sure.
My wife to this day makes fun of a styrofoam su-27 that was a brushed model I just had to have before ever building a balsa model. it is also 10 years old and cost $178 back in the day.
After it arrived I read reviews that were very bad
I always thought I would toss it up in the air some day but wound up building balsa and flew those instead. It still sits in thedeap[buried] corner with twin brushed motors and if it ever crashes , it will be styrofoam everywhere.
Someday I'll take it out and replace the 2 brushed motors with something more reliable. till then....she sits as a reminder not to by impulse ever again without reading all the fine print online first.

Stu,
Wasn't watching for the Amps but will retest tomorrow. That 1900 kv motor could easily go 8S. Better suited.
Tested the same RT 2700mah 35C batt in my F-35 with the 2750kv FMS 12 blade and got over 2000 watts but the Amps were near 100. I only have a 70 amp esc in that one. A no go. Or I can look for the trail of white smoke.
Have a 2100 kv XRP 14 blader in my FW Yak-130. It also produces over 2k watts but Amps are high. Around 100. I do have a 120 amp esc in that one. I set the timer for 3 min. She's one of my fastest.

I picked up an E-Flite Timber while at SEFF. Wanted a nice backyard flyer and the fact that it came with floats too was a bonus with all the lakes around here.
Went together nice and easy and had it out to the field Sunday afternoon for a few shakedown flights. It flies really nice and is quite responsive with the stability controls turned off.
Haven't had a chance to get the floats on it yet but am looking forward to that sometime this summer.

I know most have seen this and maybe read my build thread ... but she really is a beaut !

And she flies superb ...
If it doesn't play ... then here's the full Youtube link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tL_V99a1Vw&t=673s
For about 80 Euros the kit + shipping .... a 4250 500 Turnigy motor .... 13x6 wood prop with a 5S 3000 normal pack .... amazing value i reckon.
All I need now is my SoloShot3 camera system and I can really do her justice !! (I'm told I could have it late May early June ... but they don't say which YEAR !!)

I've always has a strange affection for the Hellcat. Not sure if it comes from building Guillows paper and tissue years back or building plastic models. You would think that after growing up watching Baa Baa Blacksheep (Blacksheep Squadron) I would preffer the Corsair. Nope. Absolutely love the way the Hellcat looks in the air.
Any how, After letting another pilot crash my Tower Hobby Hellcat last season I have been looking around. That plane flew great. So now I find myself on a 100 deg day with 40mph gusts, getting myself into trouble. Found the Dynam 50" PNP model at http://graysonhobby.com on a nice sale with a DYNAM $10 bonus code. $144.98 shipped. Should be here mid week. Man am I addicted....

Definitely hoping so. Our grass is pretty well groomed but it's still...well...grass. IIRC hacking a better set into the bays shouldn't be extremely pricey. Changing out the elevator and rudder servos first thing. Probably add a BEC to power a set of nav lights I just ordered. We'll see how much they draw...

Besides the new Freewing twin 80mm A-10 that I've yet to maiden , I'm also getting the Freewing 70mm F-16 v2. That's two USAF craft in a row now. Fish, I must be losing it ! -LOL

I bought the Arf+ version from MotionRC( my favorite online sop) which comes with everything except the power package. I'm actually going with the the 2200kv XRP 14 blade with 125 amp ESC I bought from edfhobbies. Yes, its an amp hog but the thrust is unbelievable. Installing wireless nav lights and an afterburner.
I have the same setup in my FW 70mm Yak-130 . The sound is truly turbinesque. I'm going to paint it from the get-go in Artic Camo. See pic below. It won't be your normal drab gray USAF job. (Geez, they have no pizzazz over there)
She'll fly well over 100mph. maybe 150. A sleek airframe

Two new ones in the hangar. A Flyzone DH2 Beaver,my first float plane and with all the water around here in the Eastern Shore area it should get some use.
Second one is a 30" WS Lil' Rascal three channel job covering in Doculam and tissue I picked up at a club auction. I put my Pro Line three channel I bought in 1970 something in her just for fun.

Those all look like some nice aircraft. I don't have anything new to post, however I am thinking about the new micro A-10 by e flight. I had an A-10 by GWS years ago and miss it's quite a bit. I didn't run it as an EDF, I mounted a 480 ourunner in the tail and ran a 11X7 prop on it. The entire airframe was glassed for strength, the xtraweight didn't matter with the power system I was running. It would climb for literly days with that BIG 11 inch prop pushing her. It was pretty fast too!!! I really miss that plane. It was a great flyer!!
I have been abisent from this hobby and this website for quite a while, but I think I'm gonna come back this year! I suffered a rather large stroke last year and I was out of work recooperating almost a full year!! I'm doing pretty good now, I'm back to work full time and ready to start flying again. My Doctors tell me I should thank God! Many of my rehab class aren't doing as well as me, some can't walk or talk very well. One guy in my rehab class, was about my age and he had to retire, he was a law professor. He can talk but not like he use to. He knows what he wants to say, but can't put it all together and say it. I've quit smoking and got my high blood pressure under control. So I should be good to go!! I have learned that to walk again and build up my mussels. My weight went from 195+ lbs down to almost 140 lbs. now I'm back up to 180 lbs and getting stronger every day!!
Some of you here may remember me from back in the day and some of you probably don't know me at all. I have been a member her since day 1. Looking forward to getting active in the hobbie again. It is quite addictive!!
Thanks, CTD

Flew my foamie for the first time today. The CG was off a bit and after adding 1/2 oz of weight to the front it went from ohhhh crud to wooohooooo. It is a fun to fly plane for sure.
Unfortunately the photos won't upload from my iPhone.... IB strikes again.
